DS gagging on textures
So DS is 8 months, i've been giving him pureed baby food... I wanted to start to try and get him used to different textures.. I tried giving him some textured food mixed in with the pureed, but he gags every time he eats it. Any advice on how to get him used to it? Maybe I'm pushing this too early?

Its normal. They aren't used to anythign with a texture.
Also, texture mixed with purees is tough for them. I would suggest keepign them separate. Maybe try pasta or eggs and work from there.

DS 1 had the same problems.
I found it better to start with items that he could feed himself - like puffs or cheerios. When it was on a spoon, he was expecting a puree.

I agree with PP. I would try things he can feed himself like puffs or steamed diced veggies. Have you tried mixing pastina into his purees? DD loved that.

DD did much better with the purees seperated from the solids, seems to be the norm.

im in the exact same boat with DD. shes 8 months and gags when i try to give pastina. ive broken cheerios into pcs and tried giving and she still gags. DS at this age was eating whole cheerios on his own so i guess every baby is different. maybe shes not ready for it just yet but i'll keep trying slowly.

Same here, it's gotten a little better. Puffs are making him gag, so I just try here & there. Actually last night he just made faces and there was no gagging at 9 months!
