I would never be upset, under ANY circumstances, at ANY type of party if I didn't get a favor. In fact, I probably wouldn't even notice.

Of course not. I could care less about receiving a favor at any event.
On the other hand, my kids expect and enjoy favors very much.

Not at all. It's a kids party. For my sons I made elmo and cookie monster cookies. It was yummy and they looked cute. But it wasnt a "favor"

not at all. it should be just for the kids, if you give anything at all. i made chocolate lollipops and had m&ms made with DS's face on them and figured that was enough for the adults to take if they wanted one. another friend made cookies for everyone, but i don't think the adults expect anything.

I have been to quite a few first birthday parties and I don't think I have ever gotten a favor nor did I expect one.
