Overheard at the card store
Yes, OK, I went last minute to get Valentines day card. But while I was there, a guy came in and asked the store employee if they ahd any 50% off Valentines day cards  The employee just laughed and told him to come back tomorrow

Yeah they did when I was there but then DH went later on at night and was charged reg price...cards def are a waste of money

This is actually hilarious, because I was shopping for cards as were a bunch of people, and there was a card for $6.99..no stickers, no music, no special snacks inside..nothing special..just maybe a puffy heart on the front!
Everyone around was saying how much cards have gone up! It is crazy!!!

Only time I buy a card is to hold $ for a gift. I DESPISE buying paper to be throw out. Waste. Told my SO I loved him and gave him a kiss.. that was FREE!

DH and I save all of our cards from the past 12 years! I think it's crazy how much they charge for cards these days so I usually go to Party City or some other 50% off store to get them. I got a great deal from Cardstore.com this year - custom card with a photo of me and DH for $1.49 Shipped! And he absolutely loved it so it was $1.49 well spent!

We have 2 50% off Card Stores in town. I go very often.
I also use the .99 section in Target or Stop n Shop.

I only buy cards at dollar tree.
For thing like Valentines day I make my own cards for my DH and DS.
I refuse to spend $$ on cards.

Party City does it too
50% off the list price.
I can't reconcile spending like $5 on a card.

No you're not an ahole, just sentimental. I love cards too. I still have a lot of the cards my grandmother gave me, comforting to see her handwriting. Just not the prices of cards these days, its nuts.
