Whats everyone paying for oil these days??
Slomins quoted us 3.81 to lock in for a year. Just curious if thats good or if I should shop around and switch companies?

We were in the mall the other day and slomins was offering 3.59 to new customers.

I thought I got a good deal recently on ceiling pricing until I saw these prices! wow 3.50's!!!
I locked/renewed with meenan recently for ceiling 3.99 for next 12months. they were looking to charge 4.29 to renew. after threatening to leave they decreased. also, we got them to come down on the service contract to way less. (even though they said they wouldn't)
every year its the same old story with meenan.
I believe there must be something fishy is going on here because the NYSERDA website has the average cost per gallon at 4.25 right now and it seems all the posters are well below that... SOMETHING DOESNT ADD UP.
clearly its in their best interest to report higher prices to NYSERDA. as consumers all we have is those prices to bargain against.
ATTORNEY GENERAL SHOULD BE MADE AWARE

We just switched to Champion. COD...first time was 3.85. Second drop was 3.75... We are getting ready to move so we don't want to drop a ton of money on a full tank. We have been getting what we need.. Their prices change....

So, I called slomins and they said they could certainly get me locked in at 3.59 a gal. for one year...service contract is $130.
I called my current oil provider and they couldn't match $3.59. She wasn't surprised that slomins gave me such a low quote and told me that they are trying to undermine all other privately owned companies by lowballing prices and getting as many customers as they can so that their company is worth more when they sell it and that they aren't really concerned with their customers or the service. She mentioned that they have 227 complaints on their BBB whereas they only had 2. So, I went on slomins FB page and sure enough...the first 3 comments that show are all complaints about service.
I spoke to my service provider bc we haven't been locked into a price since 2008. They were able to get us from $4.09 to $3.78 and we are getting on balanced billing.
So...with that being said...can anyone who has been with slomins for any length of time tell me about your experience wit them?

First, I'd be turned off by her bad-mouthing another company. If you work in sales, there is ALWAYS going to be someone undercutting you, but taking the high road and pointing out that advantages to using their company over another is what would make the difference to me. Some people will gladly overpay if they feel the service is justified. She sounds like a Bitter Betty that they're competing against Slomins.
That said, I have numerous friends who use Slomins and have nothing but great things to say. We will probably look into them when we need oil, though we do plan to conver to all propane.
