Anyone have an EARLY riser?

DD will be 7 months on the 24th and she goes down at 7 and STTN until 4. Every am she's up at 4. I'd like her to sleep at least until 5. 4 is too early for momma to be up!

She takes 2 naps a day. One around 7-8 for 2 hours and then one around 1-2 for an hour.

Ive tried putting her down earlier and later and she still gets up at 4.

Re: Anyone have an EARLY riser?

Could you try bumping her bedtime to around 7:30ish & when she gets up at 4am, just treat is as a night feeding. Feed her & put her back to bed.

DS is 6.5months, he goes to bed at 7:30pm, gets up at 5:30am for a bottle & I treat it as a night feeding. He goes back to bed immediately after & wakes at 7:30am for the day.

Re: Anyone have an EARLY riser?

I would try consistently putting her down later, like 8, and eventually her schedule should adjust.

(I'm assuming you haven't tried it consistently - if you have, then nevermind, lol).

ok, so you just really need her to sleep that 1 extra hour. She wouldn't be happy just hanging out in the crib until 5, would she? I might leave her in there to play til 5 & then feed her at 5.

I would be happy with that but she cries when she wakes up until someone comes to get her.

I would let her cry. DS need to be up at 6 during the week for our schedule and he would sometimes get up earlier. We just let him cry and now we wake him at 6 m-f and he sleeps til 7 on weekends.

Ok but now that's she mobile, shes standing up and sometimes she hits her head on the rails. I wish she would just lay there and look at her ceiling projection!

Move bedtime later as said previously.

It will take a few days to a week and the transitions should be 30 minutes each time she adjusts.

My kids go to sleep at 9 to 10 pm and wake at 7 am. DS used to go to sleep at 7 and wake at 5. Did it little by little.

Her bedtime was 6 2 weeks ago, I adjusted it to 630 then 7 within a week and she is still getting up at 4. I will try 7:30 this weekend. Hope it works! Thanks ladies!

DS is mobile too. He walks around his crib crying sometimes. He has hit his head but not hard enough to do damage. Now 99% of the time he gets up he gives us a scream and then plays or falls back asleep

I would try this again and see what happens. DD sometimes wakes around 5 and I'll feed her in the dark, no talking, and she'll go back down until her normal 7:30. If I treated it as if it were morning, she'd stay up but be cranky and tired until her first nap. Show her that it's not time to wake up yet. Two hours is a good chunk of sleep and worth getting her back down if you can imo.

If she is waking because she is hungry you could try giving the last bottle later so she isn't hungry as early in the A.M. You may need to shift all the bottles a little later each day for a few days.

Re: Anyone have an EARLY riser?

My youngest is 2.5 & has always been an extremely early riser 430-530am. It does not matter if we put him to bed later if earlier or if we cut his 1 map shorter. I've just come to terms that its the time we start our day. On the rare occasions he sleeps til 6, I'm thrilled.

My one son is an early riser. I have tried everything, nothing makes it better. Later bedtime, he doesn't nap any more etc. He is 3 now and has always been an early bird. It is just who he is.

I agree. I think its time to let her start crying it out.

This exactly with my DS. The good thing is he's in bed early. Usually around 7 - 7:30. I put him in at 7.
He's usually up around 6:30. Sometimes earlier and once in a while a little later. No matter what time he goes to bed he's still up early so I don't change his bedtime. I did take away his naps, which helped. It is what it is so we are all up early.
My 17 month old is the same way, but has learned to entertain himself in th crib till we get him.

Re: Anyone have an EARLY riser?

Yes 5:50am every day!! He goes down about 7:45-8 and he still gets up early. He wakes up laughing and happy and I can't just leave him there. Yesterday he didn't nap at all and still woke up early. I take him into bed and put tv on or I give him toys to play with in his crib.
