How did you start table foods?
Ds is 8mo, we started cereals and homemade purees with the baby bullet at 6mo. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to give ds table food because food from our meals are very flavored with sauces and seasonings or they're big like dumplings. Should I just keep pureeing things? Ds has eaten mum mums but that's about all he's eaten that's not in purée form. or should I just cut things up the size of a pea? I'm paranoid that ds might choke on things that don't dissolve any advice is appreciated! TIA!

Re: How did you start table foods?
I pretty much always cook DD seperate meals. I usually make enough for around 3 days. At first I just did things like baked sweet potato and gave it in pieces rather than mashed, peeled squash or zucchini. Always very small pieces or very soft things. They say that you should be able to easily mash it between your fingers, if you can't, it's not soft enough - this is only for first starting table foods.

So far the only table foods i have given him are baked sweet potato and pastina. I plan on introducing more lightly mashed veggies once we get our stove in working order.

What a good idea to peel the food!

How did you start table foods?
DS is 9 and 1/2 mos. I just recently started transitioning him to table foods. Depending on what we're having for dinner, I just cut it up and give it to him to play/eat. He's eating chicken, eggs, vegetables, rice, pasta and bread. I just stopped jarred food this week. I do still bake his sweet potatoes and butternut squash. Most of the time when our meals are not appropriate for him to eat, I give him yogurt while we eat or puffs so he can feel like he is part of our dinnertime. Dinner is so close to his bedtime that I give him light snacks and then finish up the night with his last bottle at 8pm.
At his last well-baby check up (Friday), the ped encouraged me to give him meats and potatoes.

Thanks! How fine did you chop the food/chicken?
