Potty training- when/how does it go from you asking them if they have to go to them telling you?
We have been a few days now with very few accidents. The problem is that I am asking him every like hour to go try. Only one time did he go on his own.
Yesterday we had the most accidents when I tried to ease off of constantly asking to see if he would recognize it coming.
I don't want to expect too much from him- but I'm not sure how this transition works. Just keep asking him?
Also, I stepped down the prizes a bit yesterday (from dollar store stuff to a few m&ms etc). Today I am going to bring them back.

I never asked her. I would just remind her constantly in the beginning. " don't forget to go potty," " if you have to go potty tell mommy" ( or whoever" If I asked her she would never go. If I see she is playing and starts to do the peepee dance, then I remind her again. I did the three day potty training method back in January. Since then she always tells me, DH or her teachers if she has to go. As for rewards, 1 mini m&m for pee, 2 for poop, 3 if she stayed dry all night. I forgot how long I did it for. Maybe a few months.

I was just wondering the same thing yesterday! We're dealing with that here too.

We never asked DS either. He was under 2 when he started to let us know and it took him 5 day to learn. Now at 26 months he may have one accident every other week or so. He just started nursery school and does let teachers know as well. He is only one kid in his class that is potty trained. For pee he used to get 3 M&Ms, now nothing, for poop he used to get Matchbox car, now lollipop or still a car, unless we don't have any at home.

It has been about 2 weeks and DD sometimes tells me, and sometimes I just put her on the potty bc I think it's been too long between bathroom visits.

Re: Potty training- when/how does it go from you asking them if they have to go to them telling you?
We are on week two of potty training DD and she tells us she has to go about 75% of the time. I still ask her if she has to go. When my DS potty trained I had to ask him to go try 100% of the time. It took him a long time to say he needed to go on his own.
