Pertussis Vaccine for adults????
They offered it at LIJ, but I declined - I was worried that if it gave me a fever, that I wouldn't know if it was from the vaccination or from infection from childbirth. I got it a couple weeks later at my internist's office. DH had already been vaccinated for it.

yes. my husband got it before i delivered and i got it after.

i voluntarily got it over the winter b.c i am a teacher and i swear every day there was a new case of it in my district! i figured why not? i have kids at home and would hate if i brought it home although they are vaccinated.

Pertussis Vaccine for adults????
Yes, I recieved it before I was discharged. This has been offered to new moms for years. Pertussis can kill infants..

Im preggo with my second and my obgyn wants me to get it before I give birth. Some studies show that it could benefit the baby.
My daycare does not require the teachers to get the shot. I asked.
I asked my OB about this and he said pregnant women can get the shot after 20 weeks.
He said to ask about it again at my next appt, and he'll see if he can get it in. It can be hard to get (I guess higher demand with limited supply).
My DH asked his primary doctor, and she could give it to him in her office, but that most insurance companies weren't covering it.

I got it right after being discharged from the hospital and DH got it right after too. All grandparents got the booster before DD was born.
