Wow! You should be happy that you sold your house in this market. $250 is nothing in the grand scheme of life. It is not worth the rise in blood pressure it is causing you.

I agree!!!!!! I would pay $250 over and over again if I could sell my co-op! Just think if it were delayed any you would pay another mtg payment which would probably be more than $250

We were advised to bring blank checks to closing bc of incidentals. We knew ahead of time there would be money exchanged day of. and cash for "tipping" THOUSANDS were exchanged at the table. I think you got off good !!Chat Icon

BEYOND angry with REA

We figured out the problem and are trying to work on it now. I've bought a house before and I know of all the things that come up. This is now the third thing that is not supposed to come up that did because of an error on the part of my RE and is costing us money. I can deal with randomness, but if it is someone's fault and money is paid that shouldn't be paid, it makes me angry.

I agree that we're lucky that our house sold, but this was our 3rd offer. I have a very cute starter house and have no doubt that if this deal didn't go through, another one would right away. When we bought it 3 years ago, there was a bidding war. I STILL don't want to pay more than I'm supposed to. If your RE said, "oops, I made a mistake, give me $400." then "Oops, I promised you'd pay this, I need you to give $350" and then "My numbers were off on the document I submitted to the attny, you are selling for $250 less" wouldn't you be mad after the 3rd time?!

I thank you for all your comments and concerns, but at this point, it's done and I'm fixing it. I just needed to vent my frustrations.

When you're dealing with losing your DP, feel free to complain. But for $250 you need a reality check.

So, I can't complain for losing $250 (which I'm not anymore because I took care of it)? While not as much as a DP, $250 is still money that I don't want to part with if I don't have to. I guess I'm doing something wrong if all you girls think losing it is not a big deal and I need a reality check over it. If you lost your wallet with $250 in it, wouldn't you be pissed? I would, but again, that's just me and I guess I have no right to be mad over it...

I was just re reading this again and it sounds like it is the difference resulting from the price change (to accommodate the concession) and it's impact on the transfer tax. Am I wrong? If that's the case then you def should NOT be paying the 250. But that would be up to the attorney to have stipulated in the contract. I remember in ours it specifically said that we as buyers would be responsible for x Amt of transfer tax (the sellers attorney made sure there was a clause for this)

You are not comparing apples to apples. It just seems silly to be whining about $250 when the overall expenses of a house far exceed that. Sorry that not everyone is agreeing with you. Be mad, but stop trying to convince people who don't agree with you.

We were told the DAY before closing that we actually needed another $10,000 by TOMORROW. Our lawyer had made a mistake in his math when he told us the total $ we'd need. Thank God we were able to get it on such short notice. Talk about a screw-up!

I can see why you're annoyed, I'm not sure what I'd do.

When you're dealing with losing your DP, feel free to complain. But for $250 you need a reality check.

To tell someone they need a reality check for losing money that is rightfully owed to them is absolutely ridiculous.

Just because you are getting screwed on your deal doesn't mean others who are getting screwed less aren't entitled to their money.

How is she getting screwed? The wrong selling price is on the contract that SHE signed.

Is it not her responsibility to read the contract before signing it? Call me crazy, but the numbers on the contract were the first thing I reviewed!!
