newborn to chiropractor?
My friend brings her baby to be adjusted, I never heard of this before. I was just curious if this is common & I am just clueless or if it's something they just decided to do. I've never heard of a lot of things before I started looking on here so I thought I'd ask.

newborn to chiropractor?
I've never known anyone who does that. Does he have a condition of some kind? I'd be very leery of this...

Re: newborn to chiropractor?
No, he was born perfectly fine (& very adorable too ) I thought maybe it was the latest thing & I've never heard of it. It seems scary to me since he's so little but I didn't say anything to her because I hate when people give me their opinion when I don't ask.

I have heard of people doing this and I think it is just crazy. Who knows what kind of damage you can do.

Re: newborn to chiropractor?
Someone I went to college with is a Chiro and a big advocate for newborn/infant adjustments and does them herself. She even has posted pictures of babies in the hospital that she has adjusted just hours after they were born.
She's located in Virginia but I pulled this off of her website --
Birth can be quite taxing on a tiny baby, so it is important to get their spines checked after birth! Their very first adjustment is the most important to promote a healthy nervous system and immune system!! Chiropractic adjustments are safe and gentle. Your baby can be adjusted soon after birth through adolescence! Our adjusting techniques for babies and small children are different from the adjustments that adults receive.
Dealing with ear infections, colds, and allergies? Are your kids on antibiotics constantly to treat respiratory problems and infections? A visit to the Chiropractor may help your child feel better in a natural and drug free way!! Many kids experience amazing results when under Chiropractic care.
Not sure if I agree with it. I think their body would become dependent on it. But what do I know lol.

Re: newborn to chiropractor?
I heard of this for babies with Acid Reflux. It was recmoended to me for DD but i choice not to manily because the idea of taking my newborn baby to get her body adjusted freaked me out but many ppl I talked to rave about it.. My aunt was big on taking her kids when they were younger too, They say that it helps with reflux and ear infections. To each there own i guess

Re: newborn to chiropractor?
I have a friend who has done this and posted pics on her fb page. It's her kid, so her decision but I personally wouldn't do it. She says she does it because it prevents ear infections and stuff. He is only 6 or 7 months old now. I have questioned (in my head, not ever to her) a few things she has/is doing but again, its her kid!

Re: newborn to chiropractor?
I was going to post about this also. Actually the lactation specialist recommended something called cranisacral therapy. For the neck muscles and the tmj area. I don't see much info on it but from what I did find its more gentle massage. I was scared that It was more like cracking. I think it could be beneficial if is a massage. Like physical therapy ?

Re: newborn to chiropractor?
I've heard that supposedly it also helps with chronic ear infections.
My chiropractor doesn't do the traditional cracking adjustments. She uses this method called the Activator Method where she has this handheld device that she clicks on your spine when she sees you're out of alignment. Doesn't hurt at all.
I've never really considered doing it to my kids but I don't think I could have them get their back cracked. I'm terrified of it which means I would be terrified watching it happen to them. I don't even like when people crack their knuckles.

Agreed...plus I think this is sending the baby on a slippery slope of "needing" a chiro for many, many years.

newborn to chiropractor?
We've done it - and still bring him to the Chiro every now and again. My son is almost 2 and has never had an ear infection and maybe 3 colds in his life.
My Chiro is awesome and also uses the Activator Method described above. He has helped me tremendously to no longer have back pain and my migrain headaches have just about disappeared since I've started going to him. Now I just go for maintenance when I feel I need it - I'm not on a set schedule or anything like that.

Well of course they are, it's more paying business!! I'd be interested to see an outside study on the benefits.

Re: newborn to chiropractor?
I know of 2 people who bring their children to chiropractors. They swear by it, stating that their children never get sick. I thought about it for my second son but decided against it. I just didn't feel comfortable.

newborn to chiropractor?
Hi Everyone, my name is Dr. Adam Glassman and I am Family Wellness Chiropractor who specializes in Pediatrics and Pregnancy.
Many people choose different methods of health and treatments for themselves and families.
Parents will bring their children into see me for colic, reflux, ear paintorticollis, plagiocephaly, difficulty crawling, and many more reasons. Chiropractors do NOT treat the symptoms, but our goal is to improve the functioning of your nervous system to make sure your body is functioning optimally.
There are many stresses a newborn can go through, including being in the breech position, either a vaginal (vacuum or forcep deliver) or c-section birth, sleep positioners and many more.
An adjustment for a newborn shouldn't usually include the "cracking" sound and is very safe and gentle. My youngest patient has been hours old.
If you would like to learn more or if you have any questions, please visit my website; greatneckfamilywellness.com.

I also agree. Not a fan at all. I'd rather bring my baby (and myself) to a holistic practice for acupuncture or herbs if there were any issues. (if I wanted an alternative treatment)

Re: newborn to chiropractor?
Birth is one of the most traumatizing events in you LOs life. Think about it, some babies even need to be helped out of the birth canal with forceps. Either way it's a lot of stress on their little spines. Think about torticollis, when you see a baby always looking to the same side. It's either a subluxation, muscle contracture or both. I see lots of babies and they all respond really well to very specific adjustments. All they generally need is light pressure. Chiropractic kids are generally the healthiest around! I love being able to help my kids naturally when they're miserable and sick. It's amazing!!
I've probably seen the most dramatic improvement with ear infections, acid reflux, colic and poor latches...Hth!!

Re: newborn to chiropractor?
If you think about all the nerves that run through the spine, a chirporactic adjustment would probably provide lots of benefit.
I would be more apt to try an adjustment before drugs.
