Is the Dark knight shooting affecting you wanting to see it?

Not that I think it could happen again, but I feel this has tainted the movie for me.....

Anyone else feel this way?

Think this is going to affect other people seeing this movie?

I can't stop thinking about what happened!!!

not scared, but wouldn't be able to enjoy it without thinking of all the victims...not in mood for it now, at all.

YES!!! DH wants to see it so bad and we were planning to go next week, but I can't help the feeling of "what if...". Ugg! Hate feeling this way and hate the fact that this is the world we live in now.

No but I never wanted to see it anyway. If I did, I'm sure it would be difficult to see it without thinking about what happened.

i wonder if this is part of what he wanted...........for everyone to tie one of the most highly-anticipated movies of the year to him..forever.

he claims he was the Joker..wouldn't doing this make him feel as if he had the last laugh?

Well, unfortunately he accomplished just that. Everyone knows what happened, including all the actors.

This will always be remembered.

I can't wrap my head around not only how crazy this guy was, but how he managed, with all of the wiring in his brain whacked out, to orchestrate this all so seamlessly. How does that happen????

absolutely. there's no way i could see it right now without thinking about what happened and feeling bad. might not feel that way in a year, but for now, it's how I feel. I didn't have anyone there or directly affected, but I have family that lives in aurora and the surrounding area. I've already cried 3 times tonight thinking about all the senseless death and what those people went through. I wanted to take my kids to movies this weekend, and I'm not sure I can just yet.

I wasn't interested in seeing it before this, I had no idea it was even out. However if I were to see it it would be rather somber and not a fun time...

I saw it last night. . .and I had a hard time with the more violent scenes. . . just thinking here I am watching this for entertainment when just a day ago, people were going through this in their real life.

I also sat closest to the exit, and watched every single person who came in after the movie started.

There were cops EVERYWHERE and my bag was searched.

One sick person, and our entire movie experience is changed . . . until the next tragic event happens. So much power over so many people - you can almost see the allure for a mad man.

My DH wanted to take DS. After reading about this, and the movie being so violent, they're not going. This really freaks me out and I feel really bad for those poor people, but I wouldn't stop DH from seeing it. I just don't feel it's right for my 5 year old.

I think a lot of people will think twice about taking their children. Most people who really want to see it will still go I'm sure.

This movie does not seem appropriate for children at all! I can't even believe the people in that theater brought their young children.

I agree. I did let DS see Spiderman and Avengers with DH. DS loves everything super hero and I was going to let them see Batman. I just watched the trailer and I had no idea it was so mature. (I'm never listening to DH again. Lol) The last Batman I saw was with Michael Keaton when I was 10, it didn't seem too bad.

I feel bad for everyone there, even if a 12am show of a violent movie isn't the right place for children. It could have been 12 in the afternoon and my kid, kwim? It's just a horrible situation.

Yep plan to take the hubby on Sunday and truly have a good time. Not any more or less than had this never occurred.

This man's mad delusional acts are similar to 9/11 in my mind. I went to work on a beautiful day, full of hope and excitement. They ruined that. I will not live my life wondering what if a gun man comes out at McDonald's or at the bank or in the grocery store or at the movies.

I will just live my life.

Between Heath ledger ( filming of earlier movie effected him) and this shooting, I don't really want to see it.

Nope. We're planning to see it on DH's birthday in a couple of weeks. Not going to let the actions of one psycho affect plans we made weeks ago.

I never wanted to see it in the first place. I have never been a fan of seeing violent movies in theaters for this exact reason-fear of someone trying to imitate a character...fear of someone shooting in a loud scene when you can't tell reality from the movie...and I always thought I was nuts for thinking that. Now I see that I'm not.

I think if I did want to see it, I would definitely think twice because of the confirmation of my fear. I would also be so, so sad watching it knowing what happened to others who just wanted to go out for a good time.

Re: Is the Dark knight shooting affecting you wanting to see it?

I have never gotten into the Batman movies, but I totally get why people are affected by it.

I also understand the thoughts of a previous poster thinking some lunatic could act this way in a movie theatre to innocent movie-goers before this even occured.

Haven't there been a movie(s) already based on that theme?

It's been awhile, but wasn't one of the "Scream" movies based on that idea?

While I still continue to live my life, when something like this occurs, it just puts it back into perspective that we really are not safe anywhere these days.

i was thinking the same...and both were the "joker"

To close to home for me, im a very paranoid person to begin with and this did not help my phobia of movies

I think Scary Movie might have had a scene where something like this happened. I never saw the Scream movies though...except for the third one, and I had my eyes closed the whole time...so it's def possible that Scary Movie was spoofing Scream.

Dh just asked me if I wanted to go see it. I'm sorry that guy scared the shit out me. I'm petrified with fear of sitting in the theatre and thinking someone is going to try this again.
