Normal Toddler Behavior?

DS is 3 and diagnosed with expressive and receptive delays along with sensory issues.
He finished EI the end of May b.c he turned 3. He is now in the extended school yr preschool program where he gets speech and OT everyday.
It's done like a regular preschool learning, but more geared towards kids from EI
Since turning 3 the whining doesn't stop. Everyday. Wakes up happy then turns to Linda Blaire. He thrives on routine so sometimes if something is off he whines and cries. Doesn't eat a lot so trying to get him to eat his breakfast is a nightmare everyday. Asks for milk, but the blue cup. No, the red cup. Then just cries and won't drink. Then he freaks for some other reason. The school bus comes and he's a perfect saint. They rave about him st school. Oh... He's so cute and sweet. Lovers music and listens so well. We all love him.
That's what I hear from his teachers

He comes home happy and sweet and then it's back to Linda Blaire again.
His poor baby brother who just turned 1 wants to play and be with him do bad, but he doesn't lkke babies. He's always crying when his baby brother comes by him. Sometimes they get along, but most of the time Mas wants nothing to do with his baby brother. Thank goodness the baby is good and is fine while I'm working on Mason eith one of his tantrums. It's not every moment. He's good and fun. He is so sweet, but the tantrums are com in more often then they used to.
Sorry so long. Just looking for support, advise, etc?
Anyone else understand? Normal? Delays? Etc?
He's so smart. Meaning book smart. Remembers everything, and talks a lot, but not a much as some other 3 yr olds.
Thanks

Just a thought and the baby is too young probably, but maybe you could try some team building exercises with them together...I have no idea what they could be with young kids but like in an office when people don't get along...
maybe you could have one put the playdough into a mold and the other take it our or something, try to get them to interact in a possitive way so mason has a possitive association with the baby?

Re: Normal Toddler Behavior?

Could it be just that he's like any other kid that is great with others but when with parents tests their patience cause your the mom? Or maybe there is something that environmental that effects his mood? My friend did color therapy and surprisingly colors change. Persons mood. I don't know I'm just throwing out ideas that may be wrong but I feel for you. I know its hard and frustrating. I hope you find a solution.

My dd is like this too. In fact I brought it up to the dr ESP about her routine. She lives by ROUTINE and If I do something that differs OMG!!! Everything has to be the same otherwise it's a tantrum. Same thing here to others she sweet and easy and at times to me EVERYTHING is a battle. She is also extremely smart and remembers EVERYTHING!!

Hang in there!!
