Dinner Ideas for a one year old?

I need some new ideas. Its only been a week or so and I feel like I am all out of ideas to feed the little one at dinner time!

Any help for easy dinner meals would be greatly appreciated!!!

Re: Dinner Ideas for a one year old?

Last night I made some ground chicken, and mixed it with whole wheat pasta, spinach, and parmesan cheese. DS loved it! He also loves when I make my chili, pasta with meatballs, grilled chicken with rice and mixed veggies, salmon, sweet potatoes, peas, chicken parm, really anything that we are eating. Once in a blue moon I will make him Annie's Organic mac and cheese if we are having take out or if DH and I are just having sandwiches. He loves all food!

The salmon is a good idea too. How do you make it in the oven or grill?

We do both- mostly baked. DS loves chili- we use ground beef or ground turkey and either way he gobbles it up.

i love hiding veggies everywhere so i make Annies Organic mac & cheese and i always add in a veggie like broccoli (if i have frozen i just add it to the pasta water) or spinach. i do the same thing in grilled cheese or eggs for her. she also loves pasta and sauce (with hidden veggies of course) with turkey meatballs (although i strip her down to a diaper and make sure its a bath night when i feed her that!!). quesadillas with beans or meat and veggies works also.

tonight we grilled so she had exactly what we had, grilled chicken, rice, grilled veggies, and some sweet potato fries. i always give her a fruit at the end of the meal too cause she LOVES all fruit!!

i also have some stuff in my freezer for nights that she cant eat what we are eating, right now i have homemade black bean spinach burgers, dr. praegers little veggie patties, turkey meatballs, sweet potato fries or tater tots.

thats for the most part what she eats on any given night. i always keep a lot of fresh fruit and veggies in the house and give that whenever i can. my DD loves to eat and i love to cook for her!

ETA - if you are having trouble coming up with ideas there are a ton of toddler meal ideas on pinterest or if you google you can find blogs that have TONS of ideas.

My 14mo DS eats whatever we eat...

Meatloaf, pasta, meatballs, chicken, turkey burgers, hotdogs, sausage, tacos, tortellini soup, ravolis, etc...
I made baked macaroni and cheese with broccoli and carrots this week and he LOVED that. He also loves ham and cheese sandwiches. I also keep in the house Gerber Ravioli pick ups for days when he can't have what we are or if we are eating too late for his liking.

I am lucky in that both my DS's would eat anything. So I really just gave them whatever I made for DH and I. DS2 is a little more difficult just becuase he wants to eat at 530 and we dont eat until 630 so he is often 1 day behind on dinner Chat Icon

Lol yes my son goes down early so he eats at 5pm. So he usually eats separate from us. Love all the ideas. Thanks ladies!

Re: Dinner Ideas for a one year old?

DD goes to bed between 7 and 7:30pm so she eats at 5pm too, way before we do. Sometimes she gets leftovers. Like last night I made pasta with meat sauce and she'll get that tonight or tomorrow night for dinner. Some other things she gets:

Pasta with veggies (her faves are carrots and broccoli), a little butter, and some parmesan cheese

Grilled cheese (I add turkey if I have it)

Broccoli bites (broccoli, cheddar cheese, bread crumb and egg mixed together, rolled into balls and baked)

Sweet potato and zucchini pancakes

Avocados with whatever else I have on hand

Chicken cutlets with veggies

Meatloaf with roasted potatoes

Burgers or hot dogs if we're at a BBQ

Mac n' Cheese

Baked meatballs with veggies

Dr. Praeger's (spelling?) spinach pancakes

I just picked up these Garden Delite Souffles in the freezer aisle to have on hand in case I need them in a pinch

I will make a bowl of pasta with veggies and give it to her a couple of times that week. The broccoli bites freeze well, so I always have a bunch in the freezer.
