pregnancy test help

hi ladies! i took a test this morning and saw the faintest line on my test...so faint i think my eyes are playing tricks on me. i went and got a digital and planned on taking it saturday and then assuming its positive, showing Dh the results. i didnt want to do it tomorrow bc he leaves for work an hour before me so im usually sleeping

well here is my dilemma....i just got a call from DH that his grandfather is not doing well. they didnt think he would make it through the night (but thankfully he did) but they dont think he will make it to saturday. *if* he happens to pass tonight or tomorrow night i would hate to share the news to DH after getting that sad news.
when would you tell your husband if you were in my shoes?
any chance a digital would come up positive tonight even though this am the line was so faint it was practically non existent? (if i were to test tonight, how long would i have to hold my urine)?

can you ladies also spare some babydust for me please

Re: pregnancy test help

as far as i understand the digitals require a higher level of hcg in the urine. I would take the same brand you took this morning, later tonight and if the line is darker or the same, you may have a good chance. do you know how many DPO you are? Id hold off on the digital for another few days.
If you get a + tonight i would tell DH, if not, try again in a few days and decide then if the time is right to tell DH.

Re: pregnancy test help

I tested at 9DPO and saw the faintest line depending on the line and how I held it. I thought I was seeing things. 10DPO with FMU I tested again and the line was light but for sure there. It was confirmed on a digital once I saw the line with the same FMU.

I would wait and try tomorrow with FMU and see if the line gets darker...if so then confirm with a digital! If you get a positive then you can feel out when the right time is to tell DH.

thanks ladies - i think im going to try to test tonight and if it comes up positive i will tell DH immediately. if it comes back negative ill wait til tomorrow or sat to test again and tell DH whenever the time is right. i was hoping to share the news with him asap bc its so hard to keep inside but i may have to wait a week or two.

i used the wondfo internet cheap tests this am. i got a 2-pack of clear blue easy digital tests that say you can test up to 5 days before your period - so i assume (hope) they are sensitive enough

I believe both the Wondfo and FRER will detect HCG at around a level of 20. Digitals are closer to 40 or 50, so that'll take an extra day or so.

Good luck! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

i think CBE Digital are more sensitive.

I got a positive on the CBED on a Sunday. On Wed that following week, my hcg was only 69 so max on Sunday was probably around 25-30.

With DD I got one of the early digital tests and took it after getting one of those super faint bfp's. I didn't really think it would work so early but it came up PG and confirmed my faint test. It's worth a try!
