Is this too babyish?
DS bedroom needs a little facelift. The selfish side of me wants to do a cool, modern patterned comforter, but I know he would love something with an animal theme. He is obsessed with all things animal. Every book he takes out of the library is about animals. Every story he writes is about animals. You get the picture. He is 5 years old and I think he would really like this, but do you think it's too babyish? I don't want to show it to him because I would rather surprise him and set it up while he's in school one day.

Personally, I don't think it's babyish at all! I think it will be a nice surprise!

I would get a solid color or plaid comforter and animal sheets. I would put up the national geographic map of the dinosaurs through the ages as art work.Dinosaurs of North America Or birds of north america, or whales of the world as art.

I think it depends on how long you want it last? Is it a quick makeover just to last a year or 2? Then I don't think it is babyish at all so cute. But if you want to do his room over to last a while then I would probably do something a little "older"

I was kind of thinking the same thing initially. I saw animal sheets that I liked from Pottery Barn Kids, but they were more expensive then this whole set. And on the flip side, I really only want/need this set to last a year or two and then I want to fully redo his room anyway. So for $56 shipped, I went ahead and ordered it. I want to ceck out Home Goods this weekend and see if I can find some inexpensive art work. Maybe they'll even have a cool map.

I was going to say, for $50 I'd just get it. If you get a year or two out of it, I think that's great. And then he can get his grown up room.

Ah I see, then yes for $50 that is a good price. I would do the same. The National Geographic posters are $10. I would see if you can find animal shaped push pins and put it up with them.

You could meet him half way with both of your ideas! You can buy the comforter that you want, and then add animals into the room in a different way. Wall-pops.com has some fantastic animals Wall Decals with animal themes that would still keep the room classy, but incorporating something that he likes.
