Are NST's routine in 3rd tri?
Had my 28 wk appt yesterday and was hooked up to this monitor that was strapped around my belly. Had no clue what it was (not sure why I didn't ask), went home and researched and looks like an nst was done. Was told baby looks great and everything was perfect thank god!
My question is... Is it normal to have this test done now or do they do it bc they are suspicious of something being wrong  Should I expect it at every appt now?

I've never had one (and am 36 weeks), but they did schedule additional sonos due to some concerns.

I only had one last pregnancy because I was having complications at the end. This time, I'll be having them weekly at 32 weeks as a precaution. I don't think they're routine, but I guess it depends on the practice.

Stands for non stress test. Basically it measures your baby's hb in relation to it's movement. Thy want to make sure the hb rises and lowers when it should. From what I read, it also measures any contractions you might be having.

I had no issues in my first and second pregnancies and never had one. In my third, I had a host of issues, like high blood pressure and gestational diabetes. I had a NST and BPP every week from 30 weeks on (and then 2x a week at the end).

I think some Drs will do one at the end. I had one every week but I was considered high risk. I would not think you would have another oen unless you end up having comlications

I recently had that test, when i has issues with contraction pains....
With my first pregnancy, i only remember being hooked up to that 2 times, it was in my last trimester..but i definitely didn't get hooked up to it at every app't in my last trimester.

Maybe bc everytime I'm there my bp is through the roof? LOL. It's actually low when I'm home and I check it everyday so that doesn't worry me so much. I will now be going every 2 weeks so if they do it again next time, I'll def ask why.
