Great article about baby formula...
If you know me, you know I am an enfamil and good start supported (enfamil being my first choice) b/c they contain proper DHA levels and no added sucrose. Similac continues to be the only brand sold in the US that does not meet DHA recommendations of .2 and above and contains a minimum of 11tsp/day in 32oz of formula. Read the back of your can..you will see that its usually the second ingredient - except in their routine product. Sucrose has been banned in infant formula in Europe for the past year or so b/c of its link to obesity. Sucrose does not belong in formula. Lactose should be the primary source of carbohydrate = like bm.
ANyway..read for yourself...maybe Similac will get on the ball! http://www.growingyourbaby.com/2012/02/22/sugar-found-in-infant-formula-may-lead-to-weight-problems-later-in-life/

What do you mean, "except in their routine product"?

Re: Great article about baby formula...
I totally believe this.... I pumped and supplemented with all brands of formula and as DD got older.. 9-12 months, she would refuse everything but Similac.. she wouldn't drink the BM I tried so hard to pump!

Re: Great article about baby formula...
The only thing I can say is that my 5 pound baby started out on similac, I changed to enfamil bc of those free cases I got and she screamed her head off until I went back to similac. It all went haywire when we switched. AND in terms of the obesity, I wish my dd would gain some weight. She gains at most a pound. I am all for enfamil as I used it for my first but I dont think its right for all babies.

Sorry, what I meant was, are you only saying the ingredient list order doesn't apply for the advance or everything you said doesn't apply?

We had a very similar situation with Alimentum and the Nutramigen. DD wouldn't touch Nutramigen with a 10 foot pool but took the Alimentum great. Every baby needs to be given what they will take to best in order to thrive. And, yeah she's a skinny minnie too (didn't get that from me! )
