Breastfeeding class
Have any of you taken or are going to take a breastfeeding class? If so are your DH going with you? I have a breastfeeding class tomorrow at the hospital and DH is coming with me but is now worried that he will be the only guy there!!

Re: Breastfeeding class
I signed up but I wont be bringing DH. I think he would be uncomfortable (not that all DH's would be..but I know mine would be). I have read on here before that those classes are great to bring your hubby to because it will kinda open his eyes to what you're going to be going through.

Re: Breastfeeding class
I didn't (I was going to , but delivered early)but I went to the support group after I delivered. The Lactation consultant who runs the support group and the class encouraged spouses to go.
Now having been through this. I would totally bring my spouse with me to the class so they know what to expect and how to support you.

Re: Breastfeeding class
Yes I went to one and DH came also. Most of the husbands were there, I think only one girl was there alone.
The class was good and informative but I literally cried after. I never knew how often babies nursed and when I practiced on the doll I was so uncomfortable. I thought I was going to fail miserably at breastfeeding!
But when DS got here, we figured it all out and I nursed him for 14 months. It was incredible and something I feel so proud of.
Now I'm having nightmares about nursing twins!
Good luck!!

I'm going to one next month and bringing DH. When I signed up they told me they encourage the spouses to come.

Re: Breastfeeding class
I was signed up for a class, but didn't get a chance to take it before ds #1 was born since he was over 2 weeks early. I wound up taking the class while at Good Sam the day after he was born & had my dh come with me. He was the only guy there but he didn't mind. Like a pp said, it helped to give him a better understanding of what was going on & actually helped him to help me on the more difficult days in the beginning. He shared educated thoughts/advice that kept me going & it was so helpful. Had he not taken the class his insight probably would have been annoying because I'd be like "What do you know?" lol
