Grrrr, uti issues

So I took a half day to go to my primary dr who I've always trusted. On Saturday I had a low grade fever. Sunday turned into a cold. So today I said let me go before it gets worse like last time when I developed pneumonia in a week. So she didn't seem concerned as I was congested but nothing really going on in the upper respiratory area.
Then she wants to test for a uti because of the fever. So she just tells me to go pee in the container in the bathroom. I tell the nurse when I got out, ummm it's not a clean catch, won't that affect the results? They didn't seem concerned. So she comes back saying I have a uti and my leukocytes are high. I voice my concern again that it's not a clean catch. She is still saying that it shouldn't be that high. Gives me 500mg azithromycin for 5 days and tells me that I can wait for urinalysis if I'm more comfortable, but that will take 3 days.
So now what? Ugh, so frustrating. Won't the urinalysis results be skewed also?
I bought the Azo test strips and plan to test myself later, but seriously how frustrating!

Oh and I tried calling my OB and they're closed Azo strips look slightly positive to me. Will test again in the morning.

I'm sorry you're going through this. Can you ask your ob or dr to run another test and do a clean catch?

My friend just called her friend who is an OB. She said it didn't need to be a clean catch Told me to take the medicine.

So has anyone ever taken 500mg dosage of azithromycin for a uti?
