can you claim preschool on your taxes?
thought I heard one of the parents discussing this today, does anyone know?

You can only claim it if your child is attending so you can work.

Yes, but both parents must either report an income, be a student, or be disabled.
If you are a pure-SAHM, then no.

If you are a pure-SAHM, then no.
This. And you only get credit for up to $3,000 max per child in daycare/preschool and the amount of credit you get of that $3,000 depends on a percentage of your taxable income.

You need their tax identification number, their legal name and full address.

unless you are actively looking for work while your child is in daycare/preschool (as per my accountant)

We did last year for the first time. It was because I was working PT hours when my DD was in pre-k.

And as long as you aren’t taking the dependent care credit (like FSA) because then you’re already getting a tax credit up front. Which is what I do, since its $5000 tax free on the year and comes out about the same.
