I'm a mommy!!!! Very long birth story and pictures
Brendan Phillip arrived via c-section on October 18th at 9:58pm weighing in at 7lbs 11oz and 19" long.
My water broke at 2:15am. I wasn't even sure if it was or not because it was a weird small gush in the bathroom. When I got back in bed I felt another gush and woke DH up to get me a towel because it was trickling out more. He stumbled around looking for a towel and I felt another gush so I stuffed my body pillow between my legs.  There were zero contractions so I cleaned up and laid back down and told DH to go back to bed since I still wasn't convinced I was in labor.
At 7 I called the Doctor because I had a few contractions, but few and far in between. He had me go into NS Plainview to check me out. They did a swab test that said yes I did break my water and they started me on pitocin because I was only 2 cm dilated. I was hoping to use my birthing ball but they were having a hard time keeping the baby on the stress test monitor. So that was out. I went between the bed and a rocking chair until the babys heart rate did a little dip. Then I couldn't even get out of bed to pee. I was at 4 cm.
The Doctor checked me again later in the evening but I still was only 4 cm. He said the babys head was starting to get a cone shape and he didn't think I would go naturally. At that point the pictocin was pretty high and the contactions were pretty intense. He gave me the option of getting the epidural at that point (I hadn't taken anything up until that point for pain) and seeing if it would happen, but he really didn't think it would. I opted for a c-section after a phone call to my mom. I really needed an adult to talk to me like a kid. I was seriously upset that I couldn't labor naturally and experience it all. My moms words to me were just go and have a baby. Don't worry about how it happens, just get that baby out and in your arms. This from the woman who popped 6 out naturally and with no drugs at all like it was a walk in the park.
After deciding on the c it was comical when I realized that everything was in the works but they had forgotten to turn the pitocin off so I was still cranking out contractions. I was like WT FUDGE am I still on this sh!t for?!?! DH was awesome and RAN out of the room for them to turn it off.
The c-section was SO EASY. They gave me a spinal block which was heaven. The Doctor told my husband to stand up after he cut me open and take a look at his child and I blurted out WHAT IS IT?!? and he was laughing saying I have no idea, I'm only hold its head. DH got a great pic of that.
I cried uncontrollably when I heard the words It's a BOY! I really didn't care what I had since it is our first. But hearing the words and knowing I was able to give my DH a son is the most amazing feeling in the entire world.
So with that, I would like to introduce you to my son, Brendan Phillip E.

FWIW, I think you made a very smart decision going with the c-section at that point. I got to 10cm, pushed for hours, and still had a c-section. If only I had a crystal ball! The most important thing is the baby, your mom is a very wise woman!

He is PRECIOUSSSSS! Im so glad I got to meet him on his very first day home! Such a little peanut! Paige cant wait to meet him so they can play :) Congrats to you and Dan again!
