Has anyone started cow milk before 12 months?

DS is just about 10 months and BF. He has also been getting 1 formula bottle a day for a couple of months now. His ped recommends that we wait until 12m to start on cows milk, but I've heard of people starting earlier. Just curious if anyone here has started earlier and what your thoughts are on this. TIA!

also curious ds is 11 months and still bfing but gets mostly formula when I am at work and I am so sick of spending the money I plan on emailing my ped today I will let you know

I'm curious about this as well. I have a feeling our doc is going to say after 12 months.(She wouldn't even let me start using sunscreen 3 weeks before DD's 6 month b-day!)

We started at 11 months. I was out of formula lol. DS took to it right away.

I started both boys at 11 months with no issues.

With both of my boys we started mixing it in with the formula/BM in the bottles, 2 oz. at a time starting at 11 months so by the time they were 12 months they were completely on cows milk. DD is almost 10.5 months so I'll probably start at 11-11.5 months old.

At dd's 9 motnh appt. I asked the dr about it and he said at 1 yr. you should start. So I waited. I went in for her 1 yr. appt and the nurse was like she's on whole milk? I said no formula still. she looked t me like i had 3 heads. I was ready to start at 11 months but listened to the dr haha. I wouldn't start too early but I would transition at 11 months

I started DD at 11 months, by 12 months she was fully transitioned

DD is 11 months i just started adding 2 oz of whole milk to her bottles last week. I only have 9 cans of formula left so when thats gone she will be strickly whole milk, iM thinking by 11 1/2 months.

So it looks like many of you started at 11mo! He does great with yogurt and cheese, so I really think he will take to it right away. He goes for his 10m appt on 10/17, so I will ask his ped again, but I'm sure I will get a big no!

My ped said to start 1/2 formula 1/2 milk at 11 months. At 1 year he was completely off formula

A little over 11 months I started to transition DD by mixing formula with cow's milk. By her 1st birthday she had straight cow's milk.

My ped told me to start at 12 months but if after 11 months I ran out of formula I could switch to milk.

I think we started at 11 months. I mean, is 30 days give or take make a huge difference, kwim? He was off bottles minus nighttime by 12 months (nighttime was I think 14 months)

We started at about 10.5 months.

We switched at a little over 11 months. We did about 1 week with mixed bottles so she was fully on cow's milk at 11 1/2 months.

I believe I started introducing cows milk mixed with BM at around 10.5 11 months

2 things you need to think about

1. How much does your LO eat, do they eat enough to replace the vitamins they get from bm/formula from food they eat?

2. Can their tummies handle dairy?

We started at 11m, I swear DS was eating as much as I was in a given day. And eating very varied diet of veggies, meats, fish, whole grains, he was model for good nutrition ate everything I gave him and could chew through nearly anything..... (how I miss those days).

At 19m, I sometimes wonder if we should go back on formula, the way he's eating lately ... refusing everything but pasta and bread.

I started cows milk at about 10 1/2 months maybe 11 months. I wanted to stop bf as much as I was and I refused to use formula. I spoke with a good friend(lactation consultant) who told me to try soy milk or rice milk first which I did for a couple of weeks before I started on the milk.
We never had an issue and he loves milk to this day.

Started transition at 11 months. One oz mixed with formula a week for about 3 wks to make sure there was no reaction.

I started DS at 10 months because I was going back to work and wasn't able to pump (I'd get NOTHING!) I wasn't willing to give him formula. My ped was totally fine with it. I'd nurse when I could and give him milk when I couldn't.

with DD i started very early...maybe even before 11 months?? i had to stop BFing overnight for health reasons and DD refused formula completely.
we had NO problems with it.

with DS i waited longer-almost 12 months and go figure..the kid has a pretty severe dairy allergy that really showed itself after we started cows milk.

We started DS around 11 months, when we used up our final can of formula.
