Prego Teachers

I am 30 weeks preg and I had my fisrt day back yesterday minus the students. I had to set up my room, luckily I have a lot of help. I teach an inclusion preschool class. Well the entire day I was getting Braxton Hicks and had so much pressure I was in such a bad mood. Just curious how long other teachers worked until and how they felt at work. SHould I just suck it up and try not to work too hard????

Re: Prego Teachers

I worked summer school this year and it ended when I was 35 weeks pregnant.

I am also going back next week (as long as she doesn't come early!) I'll be 39 weeks...so I'm going right to the end because I want to get the most out of my 6 weeks paid/12 weeks insurance!!

It was definitely hard/tiring at days.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Everyone's different. Listen to your body and what your dr says.

Re: Prego Teachers

I too plan on working as long as I can. I don't want to lose any days with LO. We don't have kids starting till 9/12, but I was at work all week and will be there next week. I just had a mental breakdown when I got home today. It's tough, but necessary.

Re: Prego Teachers

with DS 1 I worked until 3 days before my due date. It was rough.....but I just dealt with it. Moneywise and insurancewise I had to do it. But I had HS. They were pretty understanding. The younger ones are prob rough.

Hang in there!

Re: Prego Teachers

I had all intentions of starting yesterday, however they put me on bed rest for a shortened cervix 11 days ago, at 28 weeks.

I dont know if there was anything I could have done to prevent bed rest, but I do really wish that I started work. My 12 weeks FMLA started ticking yesterday and I'm now eating into the sick time I was saving for when the twins arrived. I will have to pay the cobra for insurance when that time runs out and will run out of sick days.

My best advise would be to stay as long as you can, but take it as easy as possible even if you feel great. Put your feet up as much as possible, drink more water then you thought you could, and don't hold it. I know that means more trips to the BR, but the nurses at the perinatoloigists office keep beating that into me (except for the feet up, that's a given, I'm lying down.)

Good Luck

Re: Prego Teachers

With my first pregnancy, I worked on my due date. This time, I plan on working until 39 weeks.

You will start seeing the Dr weekly and they can tell u if there is any progress etc.

Good luck!

Re: Prego Teachers

I am 36 weeks and started yesterday, and came home feeling awful-- so tired, achy, and swollen. I am going to just take each day as it comes, and not expect too much. There is a chance I could be induced as early as next week for low fluid, but if not, I will probably only work next week to meet the kids. If you really don't feel well, it isn't worth it to keep going. You will get paid anyway by using your sick days, and you and the baby will be happier and healthier. However, everyone is different. I have a friend that I work with who worked the day and went into labor that night and had her baby the next morning. Just listen to your body and see how you feel! Chat Icon

Re: Prego Teachers

With DD, I stopped working at 38 weeks. Between the commute and the demands of teaching a full schedule I just couldn't deal any longer. My plan this time is to see how I'm feeling following February break, then make a day by day decision.
