How many weeks before you hear heartbeat?
Will I be able to hear it at 5.5 weeks?

Probably not. We had a sono at 5w5d, and all there was to see was a sac, a yolk sac, and the tiniest beginnings of the "fetal pole" - the actual baby. We went back a week later and saw/heard the heartbeat at 6w5d.
When we didn't hear the heartbeat at 5w5d I freaked out because on LIF there were a bunch of threads in which one girl insisted that you "should" be able to hear the heartbeat by then. Baloney. It's rare to hear it before 6 weeks - you might be able to, but if you do, that's a gift. You can't expect it until after 6w. So don't be scared if you don't hear/see one at your sono.

I saw 3 sacs and heard 2 hearbeats at 5w5d.

6w5d, at 5w5d we saw nothing but a gestational sac.

With DS we didn't see a HB at the 6w2d sono, but did at 7w. With DD no HB at 5w4d, but there was one at 6w4d. I wouldn't go in expecting to see one but hopefully you'll be happily surprised

I saw a very small flicker of a heartbeat at 5w6d. It was very had to see through. Couldn't hear it yet.

I was able to see a heartbeat at exactly the 6 week mark.
I think it's very rare for it to happen sooner than that.

There is a possibility of seeing it, but don't get upset if you can't. With DS I saw the hb at 5w5d. With this pregnancy we heard and saw the hb at 5w6d.

I had a sono at 5w4d and they couldnt find or hear the heartbeat so i had to go back for another sono at 7w3d and there was the little flicker on the screen & we were able to hear the beat 
i'm pretty sure it's different for everyone though!
