Waiting and Waiting

Hi, Im Stacey I am very new to this site and I have been a bit unhappy.

My husband and I have only been TTC for about 3-4 months and have been unsucceful. We have been intimate 12- 14 days after the 1st day of my period and nothing.

I had been pregnant when I was 25 " I am now 33" which I decided to terminate due to a huge mistake. SO I know I am fertile, or atleast I was fertile?

I hate this in between waiting period from my TTC day (week) till my next period. I don't know about you, but I am constintly thinking about it and wondering and feeling every butterfly in my tummy thinking it could be a baby. Then I get my period and thats the end of that.

The waiting time is the worst part of it all. How can I change my train of thought and not have it on my mind 24/7? Im going crazy and having severe mood swings because of it :(

Re: Waiting and Waiting

Are you monitoring your ovulation date at all? I'm sorry you are feeling this way, but I really do think that trying 3-4 months is not that long in the world of TTC. It took us 13 months with our first. hang in there!

Re: Waiting and Waiting

I'm thinking part of it could be your approach. Are you ONLY being intimate between days 12 and 14??
Not everyone ovulates at the same time frame... some ovulate earlier or later. So if you aren't the "average" ovulator then you could be having sex too late or too soon.

I don't usually ovulate until cd 18-21... so for me... I'd be going at it too soon and I'd totally miss my ovulation date... thus never getting pregnant.

Personally I found Deanna's Plan (You can google the plan) to be THE MOST effective... even if you don't use OPK's or any type of ovulation device. If you are willing to incorporate OPK's or another ovulation device into Deanna's Plan, that's a great move as well.

Also remember only about 25% of women get pregnant each cycle. It's really not a high number.... so it could take some time. Yes, some get it on the first or 2nd try... but that's not typically how it goes. It could take months and months so make sure you have lots of patience and time to Chat Icon And it's totally normal for it to take 7,8,9 etc months to finally get that BFP.

Re: Waiting and Waiting

Thanks for replying...

You are 100 % right 3-4 months are not long at all. I have not been monitoring my ovulations just yet. I did infact meet with my OBGYN and he made a chart for me to go by as far as when my ovulation days " should be". I am on a 27-28 day cycle so I have been TTC 12-14 days after my fist period.

This is the first time I am trying and I could be doing it all wrong, thats why I joined so that I can meet wonderful people who can maybe point me in the right direction. Chat Icon

Welcome to the board! You'll get a lot of helpful hints around here. Chat Icon

A few things you may want to consider -
- try using an OPK next month. It will help you to pinpoint when you O. My first month I never got a + but this month I got a + CD14 and 15. Meatime, I was convinced I Oed on CD 12 or 13. I was at least 3 or 4 days off!

- if you don't want to use an OPK, try BDing every other day starting around CD 9 for at least a week. This should cover you better than just focusing on a couple of days.

- pay attention to your CM. This can be a good indicator of when you are about to O. Make sure you're BDing when you see CM!

GL and welcome again!

Re: Waiting and Waiting

We've all felt that way where the 2WW (2 week wait) is like never ending! Its a connstant waiting game between TTC to next AF and then waiting to O so you can try again.
Analyzing the symptoms made me nutty! I agree with the previous posters that checking CM (sounds gross but cervical mucous is a great indicator that ovulation is approaching). Peopke use OPKs all the time .. this is my first month using it and I havent gotten a smiley yet.. but I dont think I will O for another few days.
Try to have fun with it... you will get there!
And good luck!!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Welcome to the Boards, where obsessing is common feeling for all!

Clear Blue Digital Ovulation predictor are the best. Once you get the Chat Icon , you know the next 24-36 hours are your most fertile.

GL!
