Liqour at a baby shower
My best friend who is throwing my baby shower just told my sister there would be no hard liquor at the shower. My sister was outraged ! Questions for you ladies 1. Did you or will you have hard liquor at your shower 2. Would it bother you if you went to one without liquor?
My friend knows me and knows I don't like having people drink around me that is why she has it set up that way.

I don't think I've ever been to a baby shower with any liquor other than some champagne in the spiked punch!

Re: Liqour at a baby shower
Most showers I have been to do not have "hard" liquor either (you mean vodka, etc, right?)- just punch (with alcohol) and maybe wine. It never bothered me. I'm not going to a shower looking to drink hard stuff. A glass of wine might be nice, but that's it. My shower will be kinda different. It's more like a party with couples on a Saturday night so I think there may be liquor.

Re: Liqour at a baby shower
I had punch, mimosa's, screwdrivers & bloody marys at mine. This is what the catering hall had included......BTW it was a Sunday brunch. It wouldn't bother me in the least if there was no alcohol at a shower...

Same here. I wouldn't expect hard liquor at a baby shower.

Re: Liqour at a baby shower
I have never been to a shower where there was hard liquor. Just the ususal champagne punch. I had mine in a restaruant and if they wanted an alcoholic drink they could get it from the bar.

That should be fine. Anyone who expects more than that has a problem.

Re: Liqour at a baby shower
we'll probably have brunch like drinks and wine- but i'm sure if someone wanted hard liquor, they can purchase it and my mother would just pay the tab- this is what she did for my bridal shower- it was cheaper then having a per perseon package.

Re: Liqour at a baby shower
IMO I don't think hard liquor is necessary at all. I think the champagne punch, maybe some wine and a few selected drinks like a bloody mary or something is more than enough. Most people don't go to a baby shower to get drunk! Save the money for something else.

Re: Liqour at a baby shower
I agree, and champagne punch usually isnt that expensive (b.c I doubt they really put much in it)- thats what I would expect to have.

Re: Liqour at a baby shower
As long as there's some alcoholic option, that should be sufficient. I will be having a brunch with champagne, Bloody Mary's and mimosas.

Re: Liqour at a baby shower
For my shower, my mom made a champagne punch. MIL thought that wasn't enough, so she insisted on bringing wine. Hardly anyone drank the wine, mostly everyone drank the punch. So I can't see needing hard liquor.

i went to a shower that had a full bar, and nobody but the girl's mother in law was drinking. I think its totallya fine not to have any. Its the middle of the day!

Re: Liqour at a baby shower
Oh I wanted to add - I totally wouldn't care or think its necessary to have open bar. When I attend showers as an non-preggo I do enjoy a glass or 2 of the punch or some wine, but I never go with intentions of getting a buzz on!!!
