switching ob mid pregnancy?
Has anyone switched their ob in the middle of their pregnancy? I am not happy with mine for a variety of reasons and cannot see continuing with his practice. Can I switch now?

Re: switching ob mid pregnancy?
Funny you write this because I am in the process of switching OB's right now. I am 35 weeks and alot of things are going down and my doctor has left the practice so I'm forced at 35WEEKS to switch.
It's very HARD to switch now because most doctors wont take you so late in your pregnancy. So if you want to switch it is better you do it now and not deal with the stress. I wish you luck and I hope you find a new doctor.

I switched at 26w during my last pregnancy. If you are unhappy I see no reason to stay!

Re: switching ob mid pregnancy?
I'm about 17 and switching. I loved my doctor but the office workers and hospital they are affiliated with rub me the wrong way.

Re: switching ob mid pregnancy?
If you have ANY doubts about your care, SWITCH ASAP .... With my first DS, I wish I would have gotten out mid pregnancy. He caused me years of looking back in misery at how I (and my DH & DS) were treated. GO WITH YOUR GUT and do what's right for YOU and your baby
Sorry for all the caps, but I am insame about this topic --- never stay with anyone, even the best doctor in the world if you have a bad feeling ----

When pregnant with my first, I switched around 20 weeks because I moved OOS. Worked out fine, I've been with the new practice ever since.

Re: switching ob mid pregnancy?
When I was pregnant with dd I SHOULD have switched and didnt just because i was to lazy to go through the trouble of finding a new one. Well as soon as I had my dd i left. It was the greatest feeling in the world I was very unhappy throughout my pregnancy with them. If/when i get pregnant again I am very happy with my new Dr. Okay moral to the story if you are not happy LEAVE. Best of luck

Re: switching ob mid pregnancy?
I switched at 12 weeks and I am very happy with my decision...I don't see any problem with switching especially if you are unhappy. I was very stressed out by the previous doc office. I couldn't see myself dealing with them 8 months pregnant so i wanted to get out right away. You have to do what is best for you, DH, and baby!

Re: switching ob mid pregnancy?
go for it - you need to do what's best for you.
With DS1, I honestly thought waiting over an hour (2.5 hrs at my 8pm 36wk appt!) at every single appt was normal. I'm with a different office now (with DS2) and I've never waited more than 15 minutes! I get calls right away on bloodwork, nurses/midwife calls me back within an hour (not 2 days) for any concerns, etc. I'm so much happier and less stressed.

Re: switching ob mid pregnancy?
My last appointment with my old dr. was the 12 week sono, then went at 15 weeks for my first appointment with my new practice, and I'm definitely glad I switched. I mainly switched because the practice I was going to delivered at St. Charles in Port Jeff, and we didn't feel comfortable with having a hospital that far from home, so switched to a practice that delivers at St. Catherine's, which is much more manageable for us. And I like the dr's much more here too.

I could have written this myself - one of my biggest regrets was not switching when I initially thought about it. I did end up with a healthy baby, so I shouldn't complain too much, but I do regret my birth experience...

Re: switching ob mid pregnancy?
I am switching- I had a horrible experience with the sono tech at my office and it really bothered me- I also feel more comfortable delivering at Stony Brook as opposed to St. Catherines. I will be 16 weeks when I make the switch. You need to go with you heart, and do what makes you feel comfortable, good luck!
