Need to educate myself on shots for LO
Where do you do this? I know there is a lot of debate as to when, how much, what is Really needed and what may not be. I want to educate myself on this but I have no idea where to start. Can any of the BTDT moms advise where they received all their info?

My ped is pretty progressive on shots and has a different schedule than the APA/CDC which spaces them out. So I go by his rec.
One thing I have heard from almost everyone, is that their ped (mine included) has told them to refuse the hepititis shot in the hospital.

I will also be refusing the Hep B in the hospital and spacing out the shots. I am currently reading The Vaccine Book by Dr. Sears. It has info about every vaccine, the side effects and when LO should get it. He weighs out both sides so it's not a book pushing you to not get a certain vaccine. I def recommend picking up a copy.

Thank you so much! I definately will. I've heard about refusing the Hep B shot at the hospital but never knew why I should or shouldn't.

I would get this book, IMO its the most unbiased one out there that just lists the straight good with the bad.

I read Sears' book and my ped. also has his own schedule. However you need to do your own research and stay PROACTIVE in your child's health and life.
Everything that I hear or read about in the news or wherever concerning children's products, shots, or medication I always talk to my pediatrician about. Another thing to consider when picking a Dr- Do you feel like you can speak to them openly and bring question to them?

Hep can be spread through unprotected sex, getting a tattoo with a dirty needle (blood), your newborn isn't going to encounter either one of those. If the mom has hep b it is important for the baby to get it right away. I do intend on vaccinating for hep b at later time, I just don't think it's necessary 12 hours after is born.
