Vegas!

DH got 2 tickets to the Billboard Music Awards in Vegas and we're gonna go for a weekend in a few weeks. I haven't been to Vegas since I was underage, so I need help! Where should we stay, what are some must do things and where should we eat? We'll only be there from Saturday-Monday, so we don't have a lot of time. The award show is Sunday night...so really we only have Saturday night to do nighttime activities and a nice dinner!!! Also looking for things to do during the day. Any help would be much appreciated!!!

Re: Vegas!

Vegas is amazing. If you will only be there a short time you have to figure out what is most important to you to see or do...

There is gambling
There are nice restaurants
There are rollercoasters and other rides
There are free shows outside of the hotels on the strip
There are shows you can pay to see inside
Each hotel has its own theme and own things to do- like the paris hotel has the eiffel tower, the venetian has gondola rides, and the mirage has the tigers
There is plenty of shopping you could do
There are clubs- I hear the best one is in treasure island
There are arcades and the coca cola museum and other things on the strip

I liked Mandalay Bay best because the service was amazing (I have also stayed at the Mirage and the Stardust before that was taken down). You are always offered drinks when you gamble for free and they come quickly unlike other places where the drinks never come or you can't get a hold of a waitress. They also have the free shuttle to get to some of the other hotels on that side of the strip, which is really convenient. PLUS, they have a lazy river in the pool area. It is sooo much fun!

I say go to the official vegas tourism site and maybe do some online research and find out what is most important to you. I like all of it, except for clubbing!

Re: Vegas!

There is sooo much to do and so many places to eat...it can be a bit overwhelming. I have been there 3 times. I love it..it is just so much fun. Even if you don't like to gamble there is just so much to do.

I agree that you should do some online research..which is what I did when I first went.

I stayed at Bellagio and Mirage...both great hotels!!

I also saw the show O and thought it was amazing.

As far as restaurants so many to choice from. Some good ones include Olives (Bellagio) and Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill (Caesar's Palace).

For breakfast you definitely have to go to the Wynn Hotel...their buffet has the best breakfast!!!!

This might help you:

Re: Vegas!

Thanks for the suggestions guys!! Neither of us are big gamblers, so we won't be spending too much time in the casinos, but just a little bit for fun. I prefer to just walk around and enjoy all that each hotel has to offer...I know we don't have a ton of time, so I'll have to do my research and figure out which things are most important.

Bayside, I am glad you said you liked the Mandalay Bay because DH's company booked THEhotel in Mandalay Bay for us! It looks really nice!!!

I'll check out the restaurants suggested.

Re: Vegas!

So excited for you!! It's such a great hotel.

I ate at four restaurants in mandalay bay. I loved two and I didn't like two.

rick moonen seafood- really good!!
shanghai lilly- first time i had shabu shabu. it was great and the service was excellent
china grill- not worth the money in my opinion. wasn't great
border grill- food was just ok and the service was bad and it is LOUD in there, so I also don't recommend

If you like hotel attractions- My favorite is also in mandalay bay they have the shark reef/aquarium. It is great!!! they swim over your head and its really nice.

I also recommend obviously the bellagio fountains, the tigers in mirage, the gondola ride in venetian (if you have a good person rowing for you they tell great jokes and sing songs), the show outside treasure island is free so if you happen to be around that area when one is going on that would be good.

I also like shopping in caesars palace the best. there are also some free shows that take place in there so you can shop and then gather into the area of the mall for the show and see that and then go back to shopping.

Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill is in there and that restaurant was amazing when I went. I believe it is still on most peoples top/best restaurants in vegas list.
