I just gotta ask(Osama/Obama related)
Why are people using Osama bin Laden death as a political tool? Obama did not find, capture and kill him. Our amazing military people did. I do not think it has anything to do with the president, they just happened to find him on his watch.

ETA: At least for me, it's the very statement itself. Not yours per se - but the 'need' to assign, or disassign, credit here.
The Navy Seals and the CIA operatives involved - with no American casualties and no civilian casualties (potentially barring the woman as human shield) are the heroes here - I don't think anyone is denying that and in fact everyone I know is celebrating that very fact. But then some feel the need to 'remind' some folks that Obama had nothing to do with it... Logic doesn't compute on that one.
President Bush himself congratulated Obama - separate from his accolades for the troops.

Do you think that this couldn't have happened under any other prez? I am not bashing Obama at all, but in my mind it could have Bush or even Trump for that matter It was just a matter of how long it took the military to find him. KWIM?

I think that regardless of who was in office at the time they are going to get "credit" for the death.
I agree with you 100% those headlines should all say US Troops. They're responsible, they're the ones out there not him.

There are actually people on my facebook wall claiming that he's lying.
I think most of us know it is our military that deserve the credit.
I DO feel he deserves some of the credit. Just as I would if it was any other president. But I feel like some people cant get past their hate. (And this is just MY experience with what I'm reading on FB today)

Who really knows just how big of a hand Obama really had in it? The way he described it, it was his final decision to move in and take him out which I thinks takes some balls. Could Bush or Trump have done it? Definitely. Would they? Who knows.
ETA: Obviously he wasn't there, he didn't pull the trigger, and I'm not trying to belittle whoever actually DID get him, but still feel like you should give credit where credits due. You can cross your arms and say "Well, Bush could've done that." Yeah, but he didn't, did he?

I also prefer the way Obama handled it. He's not flying on to an aircraft in a thumbs up mission accomplished or climbing on a pile at ground zero.
FB did confirm that some of the people on my friend list are idiots.

If they were in this situation on Friday, yes - the go-ahead would have been given. HOWEVER, this is 4 years of lead time with the courier's pseudonym and 9 months of hardcore detective work that happened during the policies and era of Obama. I think that our international policies have changed tremendously over the past 2+ years and that has helped paved the way for this type of mission.
(disclaimer - i voted bush 2x and do not regret my vote, so this is in no way a bash on former presidents or policies; just a comment on the current one)

If more years were to pass, I believe some people would have blamed the president for not making the moves, I give Obama credit! Our troops are amazing and I hope they get to come home soon!

A lot of the intelligence for Bin Laden's movements and wherabouts came from many secret missions by the ICA and other intel operatives - the fact is I am curious to know whether there were other instances of intel under the Bush administration as to Bin Laden's location..
Obama gets kudos for taking down Osama because he gave the order. As commander in chief, he has the final say. I think it Bush was given the same information, would he have ordered the troops to attack? I think thats the million dollar questions! In the past, many US military officials blasted Bush's administration because he received MANY tips on where Osama was located and DID NOTHING to actually go out and get him. Whereas Barack Obama put his words to action and issued the order..
So I think there is something to be said about that - I'm willing to concede that the Obama administration seemed to be much more "on the ball" with the anti-terrorist campaign than those bumbling fools under Bush.

I think more info will come out about this, but there are already articles about Obama's decision making process. he had the final say. He's the Commander in Chief and he was successful. If he had been unsuccessful, you can get people would be ripping his decisions apart. I do think he deserves some cresit. There were a LOT of people involved in this, of course dating back to the Bush administration and they all deserve to be commended.

OF COURSE Obama should get credit for his part in taking down Bin Laden. He gave the order!!!
Clinton received a good share of the blame for NOT taking Bin Laden out before 9/11 when he could have given an order to do so.
Bush gets the credit for taking Saddam Hussein out because it happened on his watch.
Why shouldn't the same logic be applied to the guy in charge now? Or are we only blaming Obama for the bad things that happen while he's in office?
