Help! For those who had DCs that never held their own bottle...

what did you do? how did you transition to only sippy cups? how hold were they when you did?

my DD is 11.5 months...has never fed herself her own bottle. she wants nothing to do with it. she will from time to time drink a little juice/water from a sippy cup...but that's really it. she isn't on table food yet either...she won't feed herself!

help! i know she CAN do it...she just WON'T!
TIA :)

My DD is also 11.5 months and doesn't hold her bottle, she can and will for a minute but she won't feed herself the whole thing.

I don't mind it at all, I enjoy getting time to sit with her and feed her. Chat Icon

She is on table food and gets a sippy with water at each meal.

DS never really held his own bottle and has no problems holding his own sippy cup or feeding himself.

try a straw cup so DC doesn't have to tip it back to drink from it. we've never used sippy spouts (I'm a SLP and I don't think they are worth it...same suck as you would on a nipple). both my girls started with straw cups around 8 months.

Re: Help! For those who had DCs that never held their own bottle...

This was my oldest DS & then when he hit 1 yr, I made it a point one day to just hand him his bottle & walked away. He quickly picked it up & drank from it. There were still times where he would refuse but it was the only way to get him to do it & right after he was 1, we took the bottles away & gave him a sippy
