Do I need both?
Last night my husband and I went to register at Babies R Us for some basic things and then after we find out the sex on Tuesday we can register for the rest.
Anyway, my question is...
Can the baby sleep in the playpen in our bedroom or do I also need to register for a bassinet?

If you live all on one floor I don't think you really need both. I have the Ono in our living roo. And the bassinet in the bedroom since they're on different levels.

Re: Do I need both?
but is it safe to sleep in a playpen?
we are looking into buying a co-op so everything will be on one level.

a lot of the playpens come with the bassinet, so the baby would sleep in that when they are little. that's totally normal.
i plan on using a bassinet for in our bedroom just because it takes up less room.

this is correct...i know the graco pack and plays many come with a bassinet feature so i would just get one that has the added bassinet feature

Re: Do I need both?
We used the bassinet part of the Pack N Play with DS.
This time the plan is to use the FP Rock N Play sleeper.

Re: Do I need both?
i was also curious about this since i also read its not good for the baby to sleep in a pack-n-play all night since its not a real mattress. then i also read that its OK cause the baby wont sleep all night anyway and 3-4 hours at a time is fine

Re: Do I need both?
I registered for a pack & play and bassinet (and both have been purchased ) only b/c the bassinet part of the pack & plays seemed smally and a little flimsy to me...I went back and forth with this for awhile, and decided just to add both to my regisrty and see what happened.
I really wanted a cosleeper for the bedroom, but our bed is too low to the floor for any cosleepers I have seen.

Re: Do I need both?
A co-sleeper is not the same as a regular pack and play. I would not use a PNP as a full time crib or a bassinett. The top part of the PNP has a 15 lbs weight limit and it is not as supportive as a co-sleeper or a crib mattress. Having had a basinett - neither of my kids liked sleeping in it, a PNP - I could get them to sleep and a crib, I would go with a crib from the get go.

Re: Do I need both?
Get the Fisher Price Newborn Rock N Play Sleeper...it was my 1 could not live without baby item. DD slept in it til she was 3-4 mos old...napped in it all day too. It travels nicely so if baby goes to grandma's or one of your friends house...you can bring it with you...it's the best thing ever! It's small so it's nice - doesn't take up too much room in your bedroom...and DC will be soo comfy in it...it looks like a little hammock. I loved the incline on it b/c after a middle of the night feeding I felt ok putting DD right down and not worried about her spitting up b/c she was on that incline.
