I say before, DH says after...what do you think???
So DH and I were talking about the nursery the other night. We are team and I have not found any bedding I love. So now DH is on the kick of painting the nursery after the baby is born. I want everything to be ready before our little peanut arrives....what are you doing????

Re: I say before, DH says after...what do you think???
we are not team green so we know what we are getting ready for but.... It will be hard to get the room ready when he is at the hospital with u after u deliver.
Unless of course.. u think about the fact that the baby wont be sleeping in its room at 1st but I wouldnt want a newborn to inhale the paint fumes.. no matter how non toxic they are

Re: I say before, DH says after...what do you think???
Pick a neutral paint color - like a brown or tan or green or yellow. Paint before and then everything else can be done later. We aren't team but the room is neutral....we did it before we even found out the gender. The only thing in there that is blue is the piggy bank my friend gave me at my shower.

Re: I say before, DH says after...what do you think???
We painted before because I'd be too anxious if some of the room wasn't set up before the baby, but I'm not purchasing bedding till after the baby comes.

Team green here too. We aren't even buying the crib til after the baby comes and we know the sex. My first three babies slept in my room for the first 3 months so I am in no rush to finish the room before.

Re: I say before, DH says after...what do you think???
We find out tuesday if we are having a or and then we will start getting the nursery ready! But if we werent finding out, i would definetly get it ready before the baby just using neutral colors like a green or yellow.

Well I'm not team but I say after. Mainly because I'm not really crazy over gender neutral colors. Plus after you can more of a theme and add personal touches.

Before - I wouldn't want to bring the baby home to a house that smelled like new paint.

Re: I say before, DH says after...what do you think???
i wouldn't want to paint after the baby is born, and am also not a fan of green or yellow but there are some gorgeous neutral colors like warm bisque or light tan that would be complemented by either pink or blue. So I would paint first a color like that and buy the accessories after the fact.

Re: I say before, DH says after...what do you think???
We did both our kids after.
we moved in when #1 was 2 weeks, so it wasn't an option
I was 2.5 weeks early with #2 and had planned to get it ready the coming weekend
They were in our room for the first 4-6 months, so it really wasn't a big deal to do it at my pace after.

We are team and we are def trying to paint the nursery before LO arrives. I don't want the paint fumes in the house and I am choosing all neutral colors so we don't have to wait

The bedding, decor, and final touches can totally wait until after.
But I would definitely paint before.

Re: I say before, DH says after...what do you think???
We picked a neutral color that anything would go with and already painted the nursery. We registered for a bedding and a bedding, so whichever LO is we'll use that theme to decorate the nursery after he/she arrives.

Re: I say before, DH says after...what do you think???
We are team green and are waiting until after the babies are born to do the room. They will probably be in our room for awhile anyway. We have 2 guest rooms right now and plan to put them in the small one (it's right across from our room,) then paint/decorate the big one and move them in there after approx. 3 months.

ITA. Need time to air it out!
Our baby's room has 3 cream walls and one light blue. It was like that when we moved in. I'm sure even as a girl, she won't mind at all.

Re: I say before, DH says after...what do you think???
This is our 3rd and first time team green and we are painting after the baby is born. All the bedding I like for each gender doesn't really have the color palette for neutral colors.

Re: I say before, DH says after...what do you think???
We did neutral colors for the nursery. Sand on top with Mocha on the bottom seperated by a white chair rail. Even thought the baby isn't due for 3 months, we still went with a low VOC paint. We are doing winnie the pooh, and I registered for a pink bedding and blue bedding. Waiting to see what the baby is before we open and wash the bedding, but honestly, I am so glad that the walls are painted and after the shower I can get everything set up. I really couldn't imagine not having it done - good luck!!
