Spinoff: Nude stockings
I hate wearing stockings and hardly ever wear them, but there has been a time or two where I put on a Nude pair.
Reading the other post I did not realize there was such hatred for nude stockings and I am just curious as to why

IMO, it looks really bad!

no one ever gets the right shade of nude right
they are either too light or too dark
sometimes too thick
sometimes too shiny

I agree--and they have to be the right color for your skin.
I think they fell out of favor because they can give you this weird orangey matte look.
I have worn really sheet ones & people didn't know I was wearing them.
I avoid them now, b/c people say it's a faux pas & old fashioned, but it really feels weird & informal for me to not wear anything on my legs at work or an event.

And there are plenty of things that get posted on this board that I   at. Doesn't stop people from wearing it.

the look now is opaque, funky or nothing
i do like a nude small weave fishnet though...
again, quality shows in stockings

If they are good quality and ULTRA sheer I think it's fine.
As long as they are not too "suntan" color.
I have a few pairs that are ultra sheer- you can barely tell they are on...
In summer I go bare though

in the dead of winter if i am wearing a fancy short dress then i am wearing nude stockings i am not freezing my a** off
also i am extremely pale so it looks terrible to me if i dont wear nude stockings

I always wear stockings in the winter. Almost my entire wardrobe consists of skirts and dresses. If opague tights do not match I really have no other choice than to wear stockings.
I never really knew they were "dated" until I read it on here a little while back. I talked to my friends about it and they have no idea they were dated either.

I hate pants suits! I am heavy & they aren't flattering.
For black or gray suits I'd go opaqe, but for instance, I have a navy blue pinstripe dress--it's not a suit, but itis definitely business wear. I wear it in the office in the summer when I can go bare legged, but I'd love it wear it to conferences or in coller weather, but navy blue stocking seems wrong. And brown (to matchshoes, loosk weird too.) Nude fishent would loook nice, but I don't think I can wear fishnets to a conference.

I'm not a fan of them either- and NEVER with open toe shoes. But if it's stockings or freezing my arse off- I'm wearing the stockings.
