Mystic CT or surrounding areas for wknd getaway?
DH are looking to go the first weekend in March for a little anniversary/babymoon. We'd like to go somewhere that is within about 2 hours distance of Long Island. We like the idea that we can take the ferry across to various areas in the southern CT area so I don't have to sit in the car very long.
I don't know the area very well, have only traveled through Mystic and New London. Could anyone recommend some good inns, resorts, or hotels they enjoyed.
We'd like something relaxing, a spa would be a plus but isn't a necessity.

What about Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods? When we go to Mohegan and want to escape the gambling part of it, we go to Mystic and spend time there.

Mohegan is sold out on the 4th -- so no rooms at all for that night. booo!
Foxwoods only has the Two Trees Inn available -- and for what they want for that price, I'd rather just go to a B&B in Mystic!

There's a nice Hyatt in Mystic next door to an Aquarium. There's also a Marriott in Mystic and I think the Red Door Spa is in it. I've stayed at both. I don't recall many "B&Bs" there but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the recs -- I'll be checking those 2 out as well.
I've found about 10 small inns or B&Bs right in Mystic or very close by!

We're going to be staying at the Saybrook Inn and Spa next weekend. It's about a 1/2 hour from the casinos and probably just a little further to Mystic.

I hate how the CT casinos allow smoking so being pregnant, I would avoid them.

DH and I stayed here last month and LOVED it! We had a gorgeous room with a working fireplace they light for you overlooking the water. They have a spa as well. Def check it out! Close to so many great restaurants, shopping, etc.

We stayed at a very nice Hilton Garden Inn about 10 minutes away from Mystic last summer. They have an indoor pool, and a little cafe type restaurant that has breakfast, lunch and dinner. Suprisingly, the food was pretty good!
There's also the Mystic Marriot Hotel and Spa that has a restaurant and an Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa in it.

Re: Mystic CT or surrounding areas for wknd getaway?
We just got back from the Saybrook Inn and Spa and it was so nice! We arrived yesterday, had lunch in town and then went straight to the spa. We had a great couples massage, then went to the room to relax. Then we went down to the pool and hot tub. Afterwards we took showers and went to dinner and their restaurant- which was awesome! We went back to the room after for more wine in front of our fireplace. Very relaxing trip. And the package we booked included breakfast as well, which we rdered room service for. We got a great deal on TraveZoo. I checked for you, but the deal is no longer there. I did see a really good deal for Newport if you would be interested in that.

We are planning on going to Mystic next weekend as well!! Our anniversary is 3/5. I just can't decide whether it's worth it to stay 2 nights or just one.
I'm trying to get the Hyatt Place or the Hilton from Priceline. I've heard good things about both.
