* GARDENING Help Needed!

My husband would love to start a garden and I thought for valentine's day I would preorder some things from QVC. Then, when the items are ready to plant in my area ... they ship them!

But tell me!!
1-Is gardening difficult?

2-What fruits and things grow well in our area?

4-How much sunlight is needed?

5-Do we have to "build" something for the garden?

I grow veggies in the Summer. Tomatoes, yellow squash, zucchinis, eggplants and cucumbers.

1-Is gardening difficult? No. It can be time consuming if you plant a lot of stuff, but not difficult.

2-What fruits and things grow well in our area? I've grown tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, green beans, egg plants, broccoli, lettuce, basil, rosemary, cilantro, oregano, potatoes, garlic, onions. Some of these things come back every year, some don't.

4-How much sunlight is needed? Some plants need lots of sun. Some don't need much at all. Each plant comes with a little do-dad that tells you what is best.

5-Do we have to "build" something for the garden? No. You can build planters to keep it neat or to raise them off the ground. Not necessary though.

Gardening is not that difficult, but it is time consuming.

As for fruits, apples, pears and figs grow well. All sorts of veggies (egglplant, zucchini, peppers, etc) and herbs do well too. You can go to your local nursery to get more information.

If you are growing food, you typically need full sun. If you are growing flower, some need full sun, some need shade.

4-How much sunlight is needed? This varies based on the plants you choose.

5-Do we have to "build" something for the garden? You will have to pick an area and prepare the soil but no building is required. You may want to consider a low garden fence.
