Homemade baby food makers- 2 questions
Do you only give homemade?
What do you if you are traveling or going on vacation?

Re: Homemade baby food makers- 2 questions
I supplement with Earth's Best for things I don't see me making (prunes for instance!). I also don't make my own cereal - Earth's Best for that too!
When we go out for the day I throw a few frozen baby cubes in my bag and put them in some hot water when we get to wherever we're going.
We haven't "traveled" yet since she's been on solids but I'm sure I'd give her organic store bought for those few days.

Re: Homemade baby food makers- 2 questions
I havent been on vacation with them so I cant answer that, but if we are away from home, I pack something frozen if there is going to be time to defrost so it is ready in time to eat, or I pack the food up and use the microwave where ever I am, or I pack a banana which is easy to mash up where ever we are...

Re: Homemade baby food makers- 2 questions
I either pack some jarred food - earth best or plum organics or just mash up something out.

Re: Homemade baby food makers- 2 questions
Plum Organics, I swear taste like my homemade stuff. Its yummy. DS loves it, he now grabs the pouch and sucks the purree out like a smoothie.
They have starter meals that aren't bad, but compared to what Ive found in jars its gourmet! And they don't add rice, sugar, and other fillers to their foods.
I much prefer the veggies and fruits though. I usually pack a pouch for myself. They are that good.
Not DS, but a really cute baby doing it: see how baby can eat from the pouch
Great for on the go! Once they figure out how to suck it out, no utensils required and much cleaner than spoon.

Re: Homemade baby food makers- 2 questions
I supplement also with Earth's Best. It depends on how I am feeling that day. If I am not feeling well, I give DD a jar. Usually I will make her homemade.
Vacation and traveling, she gets jarred also. Or I save the jars and put my homemade food in them.
ETA-I also like Sprout brand in a packet.

Re: Homemade baby food makers- 2 questions
I usually only do homemade, but just bought a ton of Earth's Best Jars and Plum organics Pouches for on the go meals and to leave at both sets of grandparents homes.
I also do Earths Best cereals - oatmeal, banana oatmeal and apple and sweet potato oatmeal
There were too many times I was out on the weekends and didn't have her pureed food!

Re: Homemade baby food makers- 2 questions
Just about everything except peas. I bought the jarred one.
We didn't really travel much but for the times we would go out to run errands or visit I would pack food in the cooler. Bananas are great because you can transport them easily and just mash when ready to eat.

Re: Homemade baby food makers- 2 questions
I only give home made when at home or when I go over someone's house. When out in the mall, restaurant, traveling, I use Plum Organics that have a convenient pouch that you can heat in a cup of hot water and I also have the spoons that you attach to the pouches so there is no need for a bowl.

Re: Homemade baby food makers- 2 questions
Thank you!!
Right now I've been doing homemade only but I'm not opposed to Earths Best or Plum. We are going to stay with friends in Hilton Head in February so I'm thinking I could just run to the supermarket and pick up bananas, applesauce, yogurt and a couple of sweet potatoes.
Am I crazy? Should I just try the jarred before we go>

If I am out I supplement with Plum Organics if I'm out and didn't defrost anything ahead of time.

Re: Homemade baby food makers- 2 questions
When I am on the go I bring some of my frozen homemades, leave them out all day to defrost and then warm up. If I was on vaca I would bring all my frozen meals (fruit puress, dinner purees, lunch purees) and make sure to get a hotel room with a fridge and microwave or stovetop. Or..I would atleast make sure I could have access to one. I would also bring cereal, milk, and lots of easy snacks. Since my ds is older now I can prob get away with giving him a few things heew and there at restaurants like breakfast foods and pasta ect but I would still be prepared bc he really only likes homemade foods.
S has never had a jar of food other than prunes so I would def not want to chance it.
