Re: Cemetary visiting

I am the same way and my mom is gone only 4 months. I am ok when we pull into the cemetery and while I am there but as soon as we start to leave is when I lose it. We went about 2 weeks ago and it was the first time I was seeing my mom's stone and I cried the whole time I was there.

Thanks. Right now it is harder for me to come to terms with her death because I am due with my first child in 4 weeks.

I know but I just wish she was here since she has already missed a lot this year and will be missing more.

Re: Cemetary visiting

I have only been once- my mom didn't really believe in it- I didn't really like it- it was weirder for me seeing my grandma name there- since it's a family plot- and she is still alive

but we also couldn't find it the first time we went so that kind of broke the ice and I was walking around fixing everyone flowers and plants that had fallen over

I think a tree would be much nicer to visit. I think it's seeing her name that gets me so upset.

Re: Cemetary visiting

I am a bad kid, I have not gone since my father's funeral in 2003. He is right next to my mom and that is a bit too much for me. Also, I live 600 miles away so that presents a problem....thats a poor excuse, i believe i am just avoiding the cemetary. Chat Icon

my mom passed 22 yrs ago and i have stopped going. Mainly b/c it is a far drive and i was finding myself making the long trip out there and then getting to her plot, getting all choked up, and then leaving. It was totally worthless, i am able to talk to her more easily while just laying in bed at night. Hugs to you..Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Cemetary visiting

I have only visited once and its been over a year. Part of it is I feel especially guilty cause I haven't been able to get her a stone yet. But also in the 12 years my fathers been gone, I was never able to visit his. 3000 miles was too far to travel. So I have never had a 'habit' of doing it.

Re: Cemetary visiting

I don't really go. I don't feel a strong connection to my parents at the cemetary. I think it is great for people who find comfort in it though, and in general, it can be a peaceful place to be with your thoughts and your wonderful memories of thise you love. Chat Icon Chat Icon

i just went 2 weeks ago for the first time since the funeral. It was for her unveiling- i was dreading it and i couldnt stop sobbing I dont think i can go again. my mom lost her parents when she was a child and she never went- much too upsetting for her. so i figure she understands why i just cant do it. I hate thinking of her there- does anyone else agree?

I went once in 6 years. I can't do it. Its enough my dad's on my mind every day. he wouldnt want us to visit him anyway - he wanted his ashes spread, but crazy grandma insisted we bury them. Chat Icon
