mirror above fireplace

does anyone have this? did you hang it up or is it laying against the wall just sitting on the mantle?

our fireplace is brick, but it's covered up by drywall so im not sure if it will hold a mirror. and im scared it will slip and break if i just lean it against the wall.

Re: mirror above fireplace

we do i have it leaning but i do plan on putting brackets up so i can lean it forward not back so you can see the reflection of the living room and not the ceiling. It helps with bouncing light around the room.

So far it never has slipped off the mantel.

Re: mirror above fireplace

we definitely attached it to the wall. We have wooden paneling on the wall behind the fireplace (it was painted red) and were able to attach the mirror to it, even though its also resting on the mantle.

I'd hate for someone to knock it, or forget that its not attached and have it come crashing down. Not to mention the reflection isn't right if you have it tilted - you'll get getting a reflection of the ceiling and any light fixtures if its not at a 90 degree angle

We got ours professionally hung up, I feel a lot safer this way its HUGE and our walls are plaster over brick so they used special screws in place.

Re: mirror above fireplace

we hung ours, we were contemplating letting it lean, but ultimately we thought it would like we were lazy and didnt want to hang it up

It was a PIA to hang needed 2 guys to do it
