Cablevision or Verizon Fios?
Which do you think is better and why? Cablevision or Verizon Fios?

I had Cablevision for many years and finally after all of their rising prices and changes I switched to Verizon. I love it, I have not had any issues with it. It took me a long time to commit because I had heard a lot of bad stories about the billing and installation processes but both have been fine. I have the top TV package, the phone and the internet and I still pay less than I did with Cablevision (about $50 a month less).
I have the 2 year contract so we'll see if we still love it by then

we just switched and like Fios. Getting used to different channel #'s is annoying, but comes with the territory

6 of one a half dozen of the other.
Both provide a decent service. Both also have issues.
I've had problems with Cablevision's customer service and slow response time on the boxes.
I've had issues with Verizon's billing center (they ROT) and I've had issues with DVR freezing.

I had cable for years, even worked there for years!
I have verizon currently...my promo is over, my bill is pretty large now, Cable offered me a great 2 year deal to come back so I am scheduled for next week to switch back.
Neither system is perfect

I have had both and I have had more problems with my FIOS. I have seen pixelation in the picture. Also seen a significant delay in the picture and the audio.
The FIOS channel guide is nicer though. I think once Cablevision does a system update on their boxes, they will really be nice.

Actually we had issues with Cablevision freezing and just really bad service overall. We cancelled returned the boxes to their rep that they personally sent to dissconect us. Later they sent us a bill for $500 worth of "equiptment" that we are currently disputing!!! HATE Cablevision!!!!!!!!

FIOS. We have a much better picture, faster internet and our bill is almost 1/2 and have more channels. FIOS will upgrade you every time you call. We have had them for over 2 years and are paying the same as when we first started and have every movie channel.

My husband works for Cablevision so my cable, phone and internet are free, however; i HATE the company...I would change to fios if I was paying for service!!

have had fios for the past 3 years and its awesome! wouldnt switch over to cable
cablevision offers ny1 and news 12 - fios has the same thing just a different name.

call verizon!!! same thing happened to us and they gave us a valued customer discount!!!

we went with fios, we wanted to be able to watch dvr'd shows from any box in the house, i think cablevision is coming out with that function but at the time only verizon had it.

We've had both too. We originally got Fios, switched to CV when our contract was up b/c they were giving us a great deal. Two weeks later, switched back to Fios. Hated cablevision. Fios has more channels, it doesn't take 5 minutes to switch channels and Fios, IMO is more user friendly.

Cablevision they are coming out with a new multi room DVR which I'm excited about plus the new Samsung boxes are great!
