NC people
Does anyone know if there a52re there any areas that are within commuting distance to Wilmington that arent as expensive and have good schools?

Closest to Wilmington "towns" are Middle Beach SC, Greenville NC, Rocky Mount NC.
The BEST town closest is Raleigh. That's 2 hours away.
Wilmington in on the water. Raleigh is inland.
I suggest you live in Wimington if you are going to live in the area.

My best friend lives in Leland, NC which is about 15-20 mins from Wilmington. She and her Husband both work in Wilmington. They bought a brand new house and the area is up and coming. I don't really know too much about the school district.

My brother also lives in Leland! Great Area and its starting to really build up. New stores and housing. I love visiting them!

Thanks so much! This is just an idea we're tossing around and will never probably come to fruition. DH might be able to get a job in Wilmington but I don't really want to live in a beach town.

It really does not feel like a beach town to me.
Most people go to Wrightsville beach to go to the beach. Wilmington is on the River. They have some restaurants on the battery by the river.

its so not what you think of as a beach town. there is only a small part of it where your actually on the water, and most of it is rentals. the town is HUGE. it can take you a good 20 mins to travel from one side to the other. if you live at one end near the college, it takes 20 mins to get to the beach area and the loop by car.
If I was moving to NC I would consider that town. I also really like raligh but its 2hrs away. the other area I have been to, but its about 2 hrs away also is pinehurts and whispering pines.
