Frozen BM...will I know if its bad?!?!?!
They say that frozen BM is good for 4 months in a regular freezer. Does that mean I should get rid of any frozen BM older than four months...or should I thaw it and smell it? Will I know if its bad? Can it last more than 4 months?
I would hate to see all this BM go to waste!!!

You can always dip your finger in it and taste it. I've used BM that was frozen for over 5 months without any issue.

i was always so upset when people would just throw them out without checking

When I read the title of this thread I thought BM stood for something else.
I was like- Why on earth would a BM be frozen?
Oh God.
I need to go home- like now!

i had asked the same question, but im still not sure if i can tell
i thawed (in the fridge) a bag or two of frozen milk but when i defrosted it, it smelled... not horribly rancid, but it smelled. i couldnt tell if it maybe absorbed the smell of other foods in the freezer.... so i threw them out :(
gonna try it again though tomorrow

Frozen often smells weird but it is still good. I have been using BM that is a bit older than 4 months and had no problems.

Well in general...i think my BM (breast milk  ) smells like metal or something...i can't describe it. But I know its good...and it's always smelled like this. DD will drink it without a problem. I have tasted it before...and it tastes sweet. I am assuming that if its bad milk...it would smell spoiled and taste nasty. Right?
