daycare changing DD. Please help

Does this happen normally or should I pull her out...
Today was DD's first day of daycare ever. After being picked up...I kid you not...she was a different child. She was jumping around like a mad woman...screaming and whining. She really is such an awsome little girl that is very polite and well mannered. Its like she picked up every bad habit in 7 hours and is just unruley.
Does this happen? Should this be expected? Im thinking they let kids run wild there now...

I would go in tomorrow and ask the teacher how DD's day was yesterday. I would see what her take on her behavior was. Also keep in mind that she might have been over stimulated by her first day- all the kids, activities and adults are a lot at first. I'm sure it'll all be ok. Chat Icon

Did she eventually calm down after you brought her home? I agree with the PP that it was probably a reaction to being overstimulated. I would express your concerns to her teacher and take it from there.

That kind of behavior makes me think she didn't nap well and was overtired. That is how DS behaves when he misses his nap.

I don't think that daycare is changing her... if it's a good center, I would not worry, she just needs to get used to they way her days go now.

ITA and think she was probably over tired as well. Even if she napped well there its still exhausting until they get use to it. DS came home wiped out after 3 hrs at pre-school til he got use to it.

My DD just started daycare part time this past week

She came back a bit hyper both days...well hyper for her...

I think its because of the overstimulation compared to the quietness of home...I'm thinking she'll adjust with some time

But it was kind of cool to see her really active and happy...they said she had a great day both days and napped 1hr each day (at home she naps for a total of 2-3 hrs a day, so its definitely different now)

thanks for the responses.
Im a teacher so I am off tomorrow and Monday...she has off on Tuesday so wont be there until Wednesday. I totally understand the overstimulation...I totally think thats what it is. It was almost like she was stressed and was just screaming at home.
She napped when she got home at regular time. We picked her up at 1.
I hope she adjusts because I feel like she just shouldnt be this stressed at 2.
