Ang-Rich! And other mommies new to solids
How are the LOs doing with solids?
Since we started DD on solids she has cut down on her formula a LOT! She loves it too So far she's a big fan of sweet potatoes and applesauce but hates bananas - wacko
So far we're only doing solids 2x a day, she is getting anywhere from 1/2 to 1 full container (the small plastic Gerber ones).
I would like her on solids 3x a day by six months but we're taking it slowly.

DS HATES HATES HATES bananas....i have tried it a few times and NOPE..he hates them.
DS was eating like 34-38oz a day and now he is eating 30oz a day. He def needed something else besides formula.
I haven't really found anything that DS loves...but i haven't tried Veggies yet. Maybe he will start liking those.
Prunes are a disaster...never having those again! EW
He likes apples with blueberrries.

We're still working on cereal. Ainsley isn't that great with eating yet, so we just keep trying every couple of days. She just keeps pushing the food out so I don't think she's ready yet.
I was talking to my MIL last night and said how different the girls were. Kaydyn couldn't wait for solids and gobbled everything down (except she hated bananas for a long time too). Ainsley just couldn't care less about the cereal. She does try to grab our food when we're eating though.

Re: Ang-Rich! And other mommies new to solids
Sienna just started fruits yesterday-peaches. She leaned over in her bumbo to slop them down!
She loves rice cereal and she loves peas. She did well with everything but we are iffy with squash. She didn't like that when I mixed it with her rice cereal.
I am thrilled that she has no allergy issues to any of it-I make her baby food or we use Earth's Best or Beech Nut because of her milk allergy.
She eats twice a day and it can be a half of a jar or a full one if she likes what I am giving her.
She is BFing less, but not a lot less.

Juliet is doing really well!! I starteed with Veggies and have made it through 4 days of all of them. She eats 1/2 a container twice a day. 1/2 for lunch and 1/2 at around 7:30p. I nurse her so I like to spread the food around times where she will settle in for a nap or bed time! I am excited to start fruit but I am going to wait until her 5 month appt at the begining of Sept!!

Re: Ang-Rich! And other mommies new to solids
at 6 months, we tried green beans first mixed with oatmeal, and he seemed to be fine with it. did not appreciate it as much alone.
he was also ok with peas, and seemed to enjoy it more alone.
we started squash last night and he gobbled that right up!
we are doing about half of those little plastic gerber containers, twice daily as well. havent noticed any significant changes in his nursing time.
i eat a banana every day, and he reaches for it lately. soon enough...

Re: Ang-Rich! And other mommies new to solids
DS has been on oatmeal for almost a week now and this weekend we are going to start sweet potato and work our way though a few veggies...then a few fruits and mix it up.
Need to re-read the wholesomefood.com website.
I have noticed that with the increase of cereal 2 times per day he is goign back to 35oz and sometimes a little less if he falls asleep on the bottle at night. I am hoping that with the decrease I can keep up with the BM since I am only making 21 - 26 oz a day. Guess that means I might be pumping for a while longer unless my supply gives out.
I want to follow your game plan of 3 meals by 6 months!
