7 weeks in and this stinks!

Hi ladies,

I'm new to the boards and found out that I'm almost 7 weeks EDD Jan. 26. Chat Icon I've already had my first sono at 6w1D (couldn't see much - hence the pinto bean). I am not a happy camper with the "morning" (ha) sickness. I am constantly nauseated with the WORST food aversions and have to munch on bland, fattening foods all day long to contain the queasiness. I almost killed for a grilled cheese sandwich earlier today.

I also haven't told ANYONE except my husband because we have a big family wedding this weekend and I don't want to steal the bride's thunder. I'm planning on telling close family on Father's Day. It's killing me though!

I wish everyone healthy happy pregnancies and hope it gets easier in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Any tricks to keeping away the queasiness?
Thanks!

Same due date here!!! I am so sick too. I have been eating a lot of fruit, especially grapefruit. It makes me feel better. I find being hot makes me more nauseous (I even stopped blow-drying my hair), being very full makes me extra nauseous & drinking too much fluids at once makes me extra nauseous.

I have all-day sickness, not morning sickness!!

Congratulations!!!!!!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

We had a family event to go to the weekend after my 8 week appointment and we had decided we weren't going to tell anyone... and the first thing my great aunt said to me when she saw me was to ask if I was pregnant... I couldn't lie, so I asked her to keep it quiet.

Didn't really work, but it didn't get back to the hosts until the next day so I felt like at least I didn't steal the thunder.

Turns out my cousin was pregnant at my wedding last year (only about 7 weeks) and she managed to not tell anyone! Totally didn't steal our thunder or anything. I have total faith you can do it!!!

I bought those candies called preggie pops from Motherhood Maternity that help with the queasiness, especially when I'm standing for a while at a time. Sometimes I can't really stomach them either, but they can help in a real pinch.

Feel better!!!!!!

Thanks for the support! I think it will feel more real once my mom knows, you know? I'll have to look for those Preggie pops.

I had MS with both pregnancies. Chat Icon

Carbs were the only thing that helped. Try to eat BEFORE you get hungry again....around every 2 hours. It sucks!!!!! But it won't last forever.

congrats!

definitely try to eat something before you start feeling sick. I find if I get hungry I feel much worse and it is harder to feel better. I also notice there are certain times a day when I feel worse so I alwasys make sure to have a snack or some gatorade or gingerale before those times just in case.

Re: 7 weeks in and this stinks!

Congratulations and hang in there! I had bad nausea with both of my pregnancies and it went away by 14-16 weeks. Sour things helped me the best, but best advice is don't let yourself get hungry, constantly snack. Sour patch kids helped me a lot. Hope it gets better soon. Once it ends it's a whole world of difference!

Re: 7 weeks in and this stinks!

congrats and welcome! cold fountain regular soda really is the only thing that helped me in the begining. I hated eating i ate a ton of fruit, egg whites and cheese on a roll, ralphs ice. do not go more than 2 hours without eating it makes it so much worse.

Re: 7 weeks in and this stinks!

Keep something in your stomach as much as possible- saltines were great for me when I felt some queasiness on an empty stomach.

Eat what you feel like eating- dont' worry if it's all carbs or fattening.
Whatever you can get and keep down.

Lemonade is good- lemon ice or frozen lemonade by minute maid.

Congrats!!!!! I ate lots of carbs! Lots and lots of them! And I find that if I eat before I get hungry then I dont get as sick. So try to eat a little something every few hours.

Congratulations!!!!

Hopefully the ms wont stay around for too long. I would drink a lot of gatorade, ate mostly carbs, and fruit.

Re: 7 weeks in and this stinks!

Definitely eat before you get hungry. I'm at 8 wks now and I noticed that if I constantly eat (little snacks) I don't get nauseaous, but if I wait to eat "breakfast/lunch/dinner only" I'd be sick the entire day.

Congrats and hang in there!

I've been dealing with all-day sickness and vomiting for the past 5 weeks (I'm 11 weeks today). It stinks, but you almost get used it to it. In the very beginning I couldn't even function, but now I just sort of deal with it better. You also learn your own little tricks (like not letting yourself get hungry, which foods help, which foods to avoid, etc.)

That said, I'm still praying that it leaves me very soon!
I hope it doesn't last long for you!
