Re: Hot Yoga?

I went to one class like 2 years ago... I didn't like it then, but now that I'm more into getting my old body back after having a baby, I'm dying to do it again. It's real yoga, but youre in a room that is super hot.. I think 90 degrees, but I can be totally wrong on that. The first class is free to see if you like it or not. I went somewhere on 347...my sister drove so I have no idea what town... SORRY I'm no help LOL. Do a google search and I"m sure ton will pop up. I think it's a great body cleanse as well...

Re: Hot Yoga?

I go regularly to the one in Massapequa.

It IS very intense, but I love it.

There, you pay $20.00 and get 10 days of unlimited classes to test it out.

You need to go IMO at least 5 or 6 times before you decide if you like it or not.

I have been going regularly since February and still have good days and days where I feel like I am going to die.

It is perfect for beginners, or non-gym people though IMO.

I have noticed a lot of positive changes in my body with only going 2-3x a week. I am starting to get very tone and have lost some weight.

You should not eat 2-3 hours before going to class. Try to stay away from fast food too during the day LOL. Drink lotsa water throughout the day as well.

I have also found I do a lot better in late afternoon or evening classes vs. morning classes. (I think because my body is more hydrated then).

Re: Hot Yoga?

I also go to the Massapequa location and love it. While it is very hot (usually around 105), your body will get used to it. I sweat like no tomorrow but now that I have been going for months I do not feel like it is hot as Hates anymore. The first couple of weeks the heat was overwhelming---just gotta push through it. It's a series of 26 poses that are done 2x each. The hold for each pose varies from 20 seconds to a minute. The classes are 90 minutes and really the biggest goal is not to leave the room in that time.

I usually get there 2x a week, sometimes 3x. It has also helped me with running and my breathing.

We don't do plank in our classes. Ours is the tradition 26 poses done 2x each. Maybe the yoga you go to is different than Hot/Bikram Yoga.

Re: Hot Yoga?

It's really hot in those hot yoga rooms. I did it for about six months, 4 times a weeks and absolutely loved it! Of course, it took me a while to get used to it - I had to leave the class and go outside cause I would get naseous from all the heat Chat Icon Plus, my face always looked like I had a sunburn after class Chat Icon But it was really a great experience once I got used to the temperature Chat Icon
