Ladies who use nannies or in-home daycare
How did you find them? Craigslist, word of mouth? We have to leave our current center, I am so upset, but it is just too expensive

My one friend advertised on Craigslist, and in the town (pennysaver/crier) cant remember which one. SHe is actually in KP as well. She got her sitter from the paper ad.
Another friend found hers word of mouth. She was a bbq and mentioned to someone how they were going to start looking for nannies and someone recommended a woman. Well 3 years later they still have the same nanny.
And finally I have another friend how found hers through an agency. She had to pay a fee. But she said she was happier with the quality of applicants she saw from the agency.
Let me know if you want anymore info...I seem to know alot of people with nannies!

My co-worker (who is a lurker...hi rebecca!) posted on craigslist for her first nanny.
Now she only goes with au pairs & has had a lot of luck with them.

Nannys USA was much easier to work with.

The only thing I paid for was the background check but other than that I didn't pay anything monthly. I got at least 8-10 inquiries and now I have 2 kids I look after. Good luck!

Do you want me to inquire with my old nanny? I HIGHLY recommend her and I think her current job is ending at the end of June.

We are in the process of interviewing/hiring a PT nanny. One woman we are interviewing we heard about from word of mouth and the other one we found through sittercity.com.

Did you try Sittercity.com?
I haven't used it but it looks very user friendly, nannies post pics of themselves and list their salary requirements.

I found mine by word of mouth, but I know sittercity.com and nannylocators.com are good resources.

craigslist ... and she's a dream. I couldn't be happier with how she treats my son. If I can't be with him and my mom can't be with him, I'm happy to have my sitter with him.

i was looking on care.com for a few weeks, but also mentioned it to my family/friends and through word of mouth i was given the number of a lady that was looking for a new job.
thankfully it has worked out so far!

i quite literally told every single person we knew that we were looking for someone & a close friend came through with a friend of hers. it is a DREAM situation. i ADORE our sitter and her family.....i count them as friends now!

I don't have an answer for you, I've been curious as well, but I just wanted to send you because I know how frustrating that situation is. We had DD in a TERRIFIC daycare center right across the street from the school where I was working.
Well, when we realized that I was working my tail off and paying more than half my salary to said daycare, we decided it was a better situation financially for me to stay home for the time being.
Now that I'm looking at going back to work next year, I don't even know where to begin!
