Greenpoint Brooklyn
DH & I are considering moving to Greenpoint BK... Over near Manhattan Avenue...
Does anyone know anything about the SCHOOLS in that area?
DS will be going to 5th grade next year but it doesn't seem like the middle schools in the area are that great.

Re: Greenpoint Brooklyn
I lived in Green Point until I was 6'ish
I do still have some family there and my aunt sent her 2 DC's to Catholic school (they have since long graduated)
There was a website for school ratings, which I can't seem to find....
Maybe this one would have some useful information:

Re: Greenpoint Brooklyn
Here's a recent article Caz that ranks G'point HIGH on the list for NYC's best neighborhoods. The public schools came in FIRST PLACE btw!!!!
Isn't one of our mommies a teacher in Bklyn????
And don't forget there's always ASTORIA, right next door to greenpoint, pretty much

I work in greenpoint and could tell you that its a very busy neighborhood with many different people. The 2 catholic schools that are here are pretty good, as far as the public schools Im not too sure.Good luck

Re: Greenpoint Brooklyn
NY Magazine rated Greenpoint the NYC neighborhood with the best schools.
"Another surprise—and for a surprising reason: Greenpoint has some of the best public schools in the city, achieving high test scores and parent-satisfaction ratings, in spite of (or perhaps because of) its small population. "

DH and I are talking of moving, but we are looking for a house that it is in pretty good shape, and there are just tons and tons of condos/coops

Re: Greenpoint Brooklyn
I used to teach near Greenpoint and have friends who live there. There are some amazing schools there. The best elementary school is PS 31 but 132 and 110 are good as well. IS318 is a superb middle school. FM if you have any questions.
