An Animal has escaped from the Pregnancy boards...
WARNING! She may be Armed and Dangerous!
Seriously though I have a question....do you let sleeping babies lay or do you wake them when it is time to eat? how long is too long to let a baby go between feedings?

She's beautiful...
To answer your question - when they are newborn, you should feed them at least every 3 hours, so if she sleeps longer, you probably should wake her up. As she gets a little older -probably about a month or so, the rule is to never wake a sleeping baby. If you're lucky enough to have a baby who likes to sleep, enjoy it in all its glory!

Welcome to the other side Moe! She is beautiful!
I had the same question once my DD was born. I would wake her for feeding during the day every 3-4 hours. Don't let her go longer than 4 hours. At night I would let her sleep.

Re: An Animal has escaped from the Pregnancy boards...
Like the other posts said, at night let her sleep and during the day wake to feed. It is also helpful to wake during the day for those who have their days and nights mixed up. CONGRATS!

Re: An Animal has escaped from the Pregnancy boards...
what a purty little animal! Welcome!
to answer your question, I would never wake a sleeping baby however when we were first home our doc did say to not let him sleep more than 4 hours if he needed to eat until he got back up to his birth weight, since he had lost some weight in the hospital... but that was only for 2 weeks then he could sleep all he wanted! We EBF in the first few months.
HTH!

She is beautiful! Congrats. I wouldn't wake her either. Alex would go 4 or 5 hours sometimes. I think I woke him once or twice just because my boobs were killing me and I didn't have a pump. Otherwise, I would let him sleep away and take advantage and get some rest for yourself.

Re: An Animal has escaped from the Pregnancy boards...
My doc said to wake her every four hours to eat during the day and then after around 7-8 pm to let them go as long as they will sleep... worked for us!

She is so cute! When we brought dd home we were told to wake her every three hours- she was jandice though. At about 2 weeks he told us we could stop waking her.
