Apartment needed
I'm looking for a studio or one bedroom apartment for my mom who is moving from NC to NY this summer. I am in Massapequa and would want her close by, but any neighborhood as far west as Bellmore, or as far east as Lindenhurst would work, as well as north and south of those neighborhoods. She doesn't drive so something close or a bus line would be helpful too. Pet friendly would be a plus but not necessary. Anyone know of anything? Thanks for any help!
ETA: I should have mentioned that she will probably need the apartment as of August 1 (July might work, if we found something earlier.) I think it's too early to check newspaper and craigslist (maybe I'm wrong) because those usually are for the upcoming month. I'm hoping to get responses from people who know they might be vacating an apt in the next few months, have a tenant who is leaving or buying a house with an apt that they need to rent, etc. Thanks again!

Re: Apartment needed
There is an apartment complex (Southpoint Apartments) on Carmens Mill Rd. in Massapequa. I believe they are pet-friendly and they are close to public transportation.
Someone I know has an apartment there and it's pretty nice. There is also a pool and laundry facilities.

Re: Apartment needed
When does she need it by? We are currently in contract to buy a home, but we don't know how much longer the process is going to take (1-3 months). We live in a great 1 bedroom apartment in lindenhurst that we will be vacating soon. Its between montauk highway and hoffman ave. Even though it's a residential neighborhood, a bus runs by a few times a day.

Re: Apartment needed
What about a 2 bedroom? I know of a nice one, but how much can she afford in rent?

Re: Apartment needed
Even if it says Avail. Immediately you can always talk to the landlord. My apt was available immediately and we asked if we can move in the next month they agreed...the landlord might be really desperate to rent and is willing to work with you.

Good Luck!

Thanks! I didn't see those listings when I just looked! And actually since it is much closer to August than when I originally posted, maybe they will be able to hold something for me!

Re: Apartment needed
You can't assume that all the apts listed are ONLY for move in dates of July. Most of the apts on there have been on there for 2-3 months already. When put post apts for rent there is no guarantee that they we find a renter for the next month.
If you see something you like, contact and see if August is ok. You'll never know unless you ask!!!

Re: Apartment needed
I saw this listing when looking for places for myself. Move in date is August/September and if it's close to the hospital like they claim, there is a bus stop right in front.

Re: Apartment needed
Still looking...anyone know of anything new? I've been checking craigslist and have some realtors looking for me, but I would prefer not to pay a realtor fee. Thanks again!
